Not really keen on de Zerbi. It was the players who finally realised that their futures were on the line if they lost again. Who would want to buy a player from a relegated Club? what reallly interested me was the number of on the bench Spurs players, notably Maddison, who were standing and directing the players in the hope of getting them motivated. They obviously didn't trust de Zerbi to do it.

I strongly disagree with this. De Zerbi is the main reason that Spurs are still in the Premier League. It most most likely De Zerbi that  made the players finally realise that their futures were on the line.
"They obviously didn't trust de Zerbi to do it."?  Come on man, this is a ridiculous claim.

Yeah, they looked completely doomed under Tudor and hadn't won a game in four months. Frank should've been fired months earlier than he actually was (I was calling for his head in October/November).Crazy   Probably would've been in this mess too if Ange had stayed on for season 3. He normalised losing almost every league game they played when he went all in on winning the Europa. So De Zerbi can take almost all of the credit for Spurs staying up, in my opinion.

Call me cynical, but I'm all but convinced that Vicario's actions during the Everton match was solely to curry favour with De Zerbi. I believe there is no interest in him from outside so he's going out of his way to show his support for the team in the hope he is not released, or benched. Cringeworthy if true.
Report Aspro May 26, 2026 8:00 AM BST
DD, I took a punt on Spurs going down at 36, in January. It was VERY clear to me that we were in trouble and the price was too generous to ignore. My instincts were proved right as we (at one point) went odds on before what I still believe was an amazing recovery, aided by an Aston Villa gift. It was one of the best wrong prices I saw all season.

The only thing that could have saved us was if the club acted as they should have in the window. True to form, they didn't and have been exposed for it.

Now they have no choice and I expect reinforcements that will push us up to the top ten again. After this season, I'll take that if they continue to support the team thereafter.
Report DixieDean60 May 26, 2026 2:49 PM BST
I was of course being mischievous chaps Silly

Did you not think of laying off your bet Aspro, or cashing out ?  36 was a big price and they were as you say odds on later.

Will be interesting who they go for in the summer, like my lot they desperately need reinforcements.
Report Aspro May 26, 2026 5:15 PM BST
I did 'green' up, then went back in and kept going until I put the whole lot on us going down, for no loss. Won nothing, just as I wanted.

Could have got out for a nick at the end and was preparing myself for a bit of in-running but have no regrets whatsoever. The final outcome was a much bigger win for me.

But, you lot are being mugged off.

Report Aspro May 27, 2026 5:12 PM BST
If what I recall is correct, the Stadium was built to get a sale. Mourinho was brought in to have a proven manager at the helm and we had a buyer, or near to one. Then Covid struck and everything went sour after that.

Robert Kraft (New England Patriots) was the potential buyer. He really turned NEP around and what he could have done with Spurs would have made a huge difference. Bad timing.

We paid £60,000,000 too much for Solanke of which we'll never get anything back.
Richarlason has a year left so will probably stay, it's in his own interests and he's
a trier.
Osimhen makes greater appeal especially for the money banded about for Gakpo.
Savinho has dragged on far too long wtf is happening there?

I didn't dislike the guy and overall he was a very good player for Spurs. It was probably best for both parties that he left though. There's a lot of anti-Argentina bias in the British media and that definitely contributed to the hate for him. Both him and DJ Ed were sold on the cheap though. There's talk of a £85m deal for Savinho now, absolutely ludicrous amount for an unproven player. Attacking players urgently required this week..

Report Aspro August 16, 2026 2:56 PM BST
He's a great footballer and his forward passing was exquisite at times, but he took the piste last season. Clearly wanted the red even though it would damage us. Good riddance indeed. I agree with Storm that he was the brains behind the Europa win, in fact, I've always believed that he took posty's job during that run, but his actions last year were intentional and unforgivable, I can't see it any other way.

Anyway, looking forward we either get an attacking player or, more importantly, a striker or we're gonna struggle, unless OUR Mikey suddenly takes the step up that's been touted of him. Worrying times, yet again, but this team should be an improvement, regardless.

Because he was the Designated Survivor.

Apparently there were four in front of him (1) van de Van (2) Porro (3) Davies (4) Maddison (5) Gray... hence the armband.

If Tonali's debut was anything to go by, that's a lot of cash down the drain. £50m would have been too much. Man City's pair should give us a little spark up front (he says) but that was desperate on Saturday.
