injuries ,red cards,and fluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
but most of them recover from the injuries and flu in early january.
very strange how it occurs on the week before Christmas,i often wonder why,oh the red card means they will not be involved in the next game so no need to travel or sit on the bench.Cry

Well here are the stats over the last 10 seasons

The week before Xmas the average red cards per game...Premiership 0.179  Championship 0.139

For the previous week (ie 2 weeks before Xmas) the averages are Premiership 0.127 and Championship 0.130

So it would appear that there are more red cards the week before Xmas

I would say rarely has a Premier league player got himself sent off in order to miss Boxing day matches. Not many are that irresponsible. However, deliberately getting a 5th booking in order to miss Boxing day has regularly occurred. They probably consider that they would get a 1 game ban at some point soon anyway so they might as well have Christmas off!
