i think england were pretty comfortable during most of the match but the late equaliser clearly took the wind out of their sails, the first 15 mins of extra time suggested we were out on our feet yet the 2nd 15 we came right back into it.really colombia had 20 minsof supierioty but thats all. eng no certs against sweden but clear favourites in my view.if we beat them and make semis , you may only need one really good performance to win the whole thing(not sure we can produce that big performance but heres hoping).kanes thigh strain could be a huge blow but i believe even if he's not ready for sweden  vardy could do the job against swedes slow moving centre backs.

Colombia sat back and played defensive but the most impressive thing about England was the way they pressed and didn't really allow the Colombians get at their defence. That all changed after the goal and England sat deep and let the Colombians come at them. I thought that was poor tactically as the pressing was working. Maybe you can't press like that for 90 mins but if you had you'd prob be less fatigued today. England did very well to get through it from 1-1 after 90 mins. It wasn't looking good for them in ET and their penalties record is horrendous.

Alli, Sterling and Lingard were very poor on the ball and the fouling for the penalty was so idiotic, it was a gift really. England can get to the final but will struggle to create chances against a defensive side and I can see the Sweden game being similar. And a team who can get past their press or who presses them will cause them problems, as I still think their defence is suspect. Don't think Sweden will do that tho but perhaps last night will catch up with England eventually in terms of fatigue and the intensity of their pressing in later rounds.

Correct about those 3 players. Alli struggling with fitness. He's a key player but we need creativity and big mistake last night not to bring on Loftus-Cheek. But we got away with it. We won't against a better team.

That is what naturally happens in football matches all over the World and has been the case since time began. It's also a function of the other team actually trying to cross the half-way line. It is simple human nature above anything else. It also happens in sport in general. The winning team/player tightens up under pressure.

You'll see this happening every week in the EPL and elsewhere next season.

Don't get the negativity about Sterling - he was average early in the tournament but he was great yesterday, never stopped running, and always caused problems for their defence - got clattered endlessly, and still demanded the ball, a v good performance

I know that tends to happen naturally. But it was a change in tactics from England, going from giving Colombia little time on the ball to lots of time on the ball and inviting them on to them rather than the Colombians stepping it up, they invited the pressure. And it didn't happen immediately after the goal, it was only really the last 10 mins that you could seek a stark change, that's when Southgate brought on Dier and put him in Henderson's role and they sat right back. That was a tactical change by the manager more than something that naturally happened.

Sterling Alli and Lingard were poor in possession but all did their pressing jobs well. Sterling looked like he couldn't control the ball properly at times esp in the first half.

Sterling and Alli shouldn't be in the starting XI.
