Anyone know when the newspaper print guide is released? I see they have a book available on Amazon for a tenner, but there is usually one released in the 2 weeks or so before the tourney.

Can't seem to find details online.

Suarez has the edge over Cavani because he'll be on Pens.
Sterling has not got a hope of being top scorer

Don't think Mbappe will start many games

If you have to read a betting guide for football please give up betting.

The page of expert selections appear to have knocked out Argentina and Belguim(Boyata and Januzas as backup , fair enough) leaving only Spain , Brazil , Germany and France as potential winners.

Uruguay and Croatia  fancied by a few as outsiders to go well.

Mr Hamann's legendary thoughts on his own national team prior to the last World Cup were punditry of legendary status .Laugh

I always wonder how many participants , especially of the overpaid variety , look jealously at team mates not selected who get another month on the beach posting photos to their fans of their wealth and good looking bird ......and wish they had not been selected.

This. You don't need to know who a team of ''experts'' like recovering gambling addict Didi Hamann predict to win the thing, you need to do research on the teams, who'll play, tactics, and all of this info can be found free online

when you have done that, and formulated your own odds and wonder why one
team is way too short, it might help explain if you know a popular tipster has
tipped them up.

however much you may knock racing post betting guides they remain popular

didi hamann tipping a team may cause a price boost !

Hamann is only employed by the RP as part of the banterisation of betting. I.e. "see that bloke lying over there amongst the cardboard boxes? Lost his job, house, wife, kids betting on FOBTies...what a ledge!"

Hamann played in World Cup final and a CL final he won, he effectively changed the game at half time when he came on, has some credence even if he is a terrible gambler.

He's certainly the sort of Billy Bunter the RP and their sponsors want: bet blind, bet big, bet often, bet at any price.

Do people really think anyone buys it in order to follow all the tips Confused

I assume people buy it so they can read the expert's opinions on the value bets and a cogent analysis highlighting the pros and cons of their selection.

I don't buy the RP but I assume each expert has provided a convincing argument for backing Spain, Argentina, Brazil and France, highlighting information which your average Billy Bunter has missed.

"Don't think Mbappe will start many games"

Started the last 6 games.  Scored or assisted in 7 of France's 14 goals.  He's possibly the first name on the team sheet.

Think that 40/1 is a decent price.  The only thing that puts me off is whether they'll award him both the main award and young award

Should have said scored or assisted in 7 of France's last 14 goals.  He's the best young player in the world who unlike most top players has had a fairly relaxed season for his club, league a romp and early CL exit

The doubt is whether it'll be Giroud up front with Griezman as the second striker and Mbappe on the wing or Griezmann and Mbappe up front with Dembele on the wing

Most of those were friendlies and are for experimenting, they have so many options going forward

Front 6 in qualifiers

Lemar - Matuidi - Tolisso - Coman - Giroud - Griezmann

Mbappe - Matuidi - Kante - Tolisso - Griezmann - Lacazette

Lemar - Pogba - Kante - Mbappe - Giroud -Griezmann

Lemar - Kante - Pogba - Coman - Griezmann - Giroud

Sissoko - Matuidi - Pogba - Payet - Griezmann - Giroud

Matuidi - Dembele - Kante - Payet - Griezmann - Giroud

Payet - Matuidi - Pogba - Sissoko- Griezmann - Giroud

Matuidi - Sissoko - Pogba - Payet - Griezmann - Gameiro

Matuidi - Sissoko - Pogba - Payet - Griezmann - Gameiro

Pogba - Sissoko - Kante - Martial - Griezmann - Giroud

tbf that does make it more likely he will start given the names left out, though it could be Lemar on the wing

Sure but he was 18 then.

If you looked at England's WC games and then saw the current squad and starting line ups in the recent friendlies, it's the recent friendlies that have far more bearing.

Giroud and Griezmann started 12 of France last 17 competitive matches Euro's (7/12 in WCQ and 5/7), surely that makes it likely they'll both start together which means it's a 3 way decision between Lemar / Dembele / Mbappe for the left wing/of the three or even, dependant upon the opposition. Mbappe's played more game time in friendlies this year than anyone but I wouldn't say it's guaranteed but now agree it's likely more so.
