"We have only named six players on the subs bench because we don’t have any more. That is the reason why"... I'm sure the Youth players they've been stockpiling will be over the blue moon.
On the weekend the club across the City mourns the 60th anniverary of Munich it's particularly embarrassing.. days after the tragedy Utd managed to field a side & went on to reach the Cup Final, Ped despite the unlimited resources at his disposal doesn't feel it neceassary to fill his bench or give youth a chance. Even by modern standards, kin el, what a souless entity The Man City Project is.
To be fair, he's not saying anything any other manager isn't. And Mourinho is obviously numero uno when it comes to complaining about nothing. I do wish Pep would stop saying how the title isn't over though. He could start himself up front the rest of the season and they'll still win it with games to spare

"Guardiola said he decided not to promote any of his players from the elite development squad - the under-23 side - because they played against Swansea on Friday.
He said they would have been wasting time sitting on the bench at Burnley when they could have been getting match time with the Under-23s instead."

As Gary Nev said he could have brought in a kid , give him an experiance , let him savour the moment and mix with the stars and big him up in interviewes saying his devolopement in recent months etc deserved it.
But no he decided to make it about him,

Bit of a story about nothing isn't it? Seems he just felt the U23's would rather have the chance of playing in a match on the Friday instead of sitting on a bench on Saturday.

You could say that about an old pro mover but a young trainee would love the experiance.
If the game had panned out well and ye were 3 up or something imagine giving one of those kids 15 mins.
As it happened that was not possible but the thrill of being on the bench for the first time and maybe the only could have changed their lives.
Selfish to try make a point from 15 points clear imo.

Think i remember someone or other disbanding their youth team and then not having enough squad members to fill all subs a few years ago mover but think it was a yo yo team tbh.

In my day Rommell players were regular starters at 17 , 18 or 19 if good enough.
I think its nonsense that these players get a few minutes here and there now .
Thats why they fall through the grades .

Laughable that he said he didn't have 'anybody else', that's why he's getting stick. If he hadn't said that there wouldn't be an issue. He has a system that he works on daily with players and if youth players aren't working with the squad day to day then he is not going to use them. That's understandable. I don't think he'd play any player not familiar with his system. It's vital to him that all players are familiar with it. He should have just said that.
United play the likes of Rashford and Lingard, yes, but they are not good enough to compete at the very top level. They are out of their depth at that level.
Players are still regular starters at 17, 18, 19 if good enough but in the modern day of moneyball, very few are. Been like that for years now.

Back in the day, clubs didn't have 11 world class players or the money to go out and buy them, so they played young players because the more experienced players could carry them and the standard wasn't as high. Different era. You can't blood inexperienced youngsters in your first team and hope to stay at the very top level. Those days are long gone.

The absolute state of the cringey mawkish sentimental pish from the OP here ! It's beginning to look like the Rags are steadily morphing into their 'hated' Mersey brethren this season with their morality tales, 'istry lessons and constant excuses. These traits of cours are perfectly embodied by their eye gouging, misogynist bossman who's go to move anytime he doesn't get a result is to whinge, deflect and effectively say 'Its NEVER my fault' ... how familiar
