Absolute nonsense mega.  Check his record and then apologize for spouting absolute nonsense.

Report asparagus October 6, 2017 8:51 AM BST
Usual pathetic response. We're not great but if we got behind the team a bit more instead of just piling the pressure on them by moaning it would help. We've qualified comfortably again yet all we hear on the night we qualify is negativity. People say we always get an easy group but if you keep qualifying comfortably you will stay as a top seed which is going to make things easier. Portugal, the European champions are currently struggling to qualify behind Switzerland. When England had Switzerland in the group for Euro 2016  qualifying Switzerland were supposedly a pushover.

I ready stuff like Argentina and Italy must be quaking in their boots. Well Italy are going to be in the play offs so not certain to qualify whilst Argentina are in even more danger and might not even make a play off. Someone else on the thread said 'If this was France we'd be 8 down by now', conveniently forgetting that France managed a 0-0 draw at home to the mighty Luxembourg last month. International football is never easy to get fluidity particularly in qualifying when teams only get together for a short period.

Yes we are a long way behind Spain, Germany and Brazil but we have qualified again for another major tournament so lets give the players some credit. i keep reading the players have no passion yet i think from their reactions it was very easy to see how much the winning goal meant to them. Meanwhile it's the sit at home fans who have no passion and seem to take pleasure in pointing out our deficiencies.

The only pleasuring in watching England is taking the piss.

Rather than qualify for every tournament I would rather England missed out on one every now and then if it meant that we could actually do something when we did qualify rather than the usual insipid dross.
Report lurka October 6, 2017 11:16 AM BST
England should play the traditional English way like NI, Ireland and Wales do. Be defensively set-up and hard to beat first and foremost, acknowledge your limitations, let the other team have the ball and try to nick a goal from a set piece or a cross into the box or from Kane, who is a much better striker than any of those other countries have.

Instead they try to play European possession football and get beaten at that game by lesser sides. These sides love to see England playing that way, they don't like playing the likes of Wales, NI, Ireland who are difficult to score against and can be dangerous from set pieces and crosses. England have much better players to choose from than the other home nations and could be much more effective playing the same way they do. The players have no confidence in playing a possession game against continentals and South American teams and that is reflected in their abysmal team spirit in the last few major tournaments.

Vardy more potent than Kane ffs, you've got to be having a laugh.
Report johnnyrant October 6, 2017 3:02 PM BST
This is the England team you get when you allow the Premiership to dominate and call the shots in its current guise. Most of our supposed 'top' players either keep the bench warm for their Prem sides, or get a game surround by 9/10 overseas players. Frankly, it's a joke & wouldn't be tolerated in any other country. The public are being sold a crock of sh*t in the guise of the current Premiership but as long as Joe football Punter buys into it, pays his subs, and drools over this tawdry nonsense week-in, week-out Eng are doomed.

Our players are spineless, pampered and sub-standard on the international stage largely due to the current status quo. I'd go as far as saying the current crop is our weakest since the Carlton Palmer/Keith Curle/Tony Daley era under Turnip Taylor circa the Euros (92?) - 'Brolin, Dahlin, Brolin, Dahlin' - when Brian Moore started singing a Dolly Parton track as said Swedish players danced their way through the Eng team.

It's a sad state of affairs. Eng play garbage football under an inspiring coach (yet again, following in footsteps of similar - Woy and McClown) and essentially we have a bunch of nothing players who are given star status courtesy of playing for Prem teams that may as well be located in Abu Dhabi for all their Englishness - foreign-owned, foreign-coach & overflowing with foreign players. But hey, let's grab the popcorn it's Man City vs Chelski this weekend.

The Prem will continue to do massive harm to the England team until they introduce a cap of, in my humble view, 5 foreign players max in each side, and ideally some of the top, young English players, instead of being so insular and cosseted playing in England, go and ply their trade in France, Italy, Germany… But of course, none of this will happen as long as the money men are running the game here.

You would have a more competitive Eng side if you picked XI hungry players from the Championship, which ironically is where most of the English talent has to go and play these days to get a game.

10 incredible stats that prove just how good Tottenham hotshot Harry Kane is right now
After his hat-trick against APOEL in Cyprus on Tuesday night, these are some scarcely believable numbers from Spurs' relentless goalscoring machine

Harry Kane, then. He's rather good isn't he?

And the Tottenham Hotspur forward was at it again in Cyprus on Tuesday night, scoring a hat-trick to secure a 3-0 Champions League victory over APOEL as Spurs made it two wins from two in their group.

Debate over just how good Kane is seems to have been raging for a long time, but surely his doubters now have all the evidence they need to determine his quality.

And if they don't, then here's some more.

here's the problem, the problem is an 18 year old is supposed to lead us to the next world cup and be our best player. rashford could be a good player but already the pressure on him to deliver is so huge he can only fail. the same happened with owen and rooney. they were both massively hyped and they had all this pressure on them going into major tournament. both scored goals but won nil for the national team. rooney also hit some bumps in the road after a good start where he could do no wrong. he's now england's top goal scorer of all-time but little else to show for it.
we need to build a team of 11 very good players rather than relying on one or two individuals doing something. rashford to me has some talent but isn't as good as he or other people think he is. he can finish at times but his all round game lacks what a top top international footballer should be like.

as for the fans supporting the team. i think there's a big disconnect between the players and the fans, mainly due to how much money we all know these players get. in '66, the players were earning a pittance. now we know they're all millionaires and we feel like they're not playing for us. all the passion went out of english football after euro 96, and that was southgate's fault in part.
