Manchester United have promised to investigate their own fans after receiving a complaint from anti racist group Kick It Out regarding a chant sung about Romelu Lukaku in the Champions League match against Basel.
It is understood the chant makes reference to the size of Lukaku's penis.
A Kick It Out spokesperson said 'All forms of racist stereotyping are unacceptable and the perpetrators must face consequences'
Lukaku has not personally complained about the chant.
Marina Hyde of the Grauniad gives a fair summary of the position Kick It Out has taken:
"...what’s the likelihood the only stereotype those people hold about black people is that they have enormous penises?...should they be expected to laugh gratefully as you tell them they have a huge penis, when inside they may be well aware you also probably think they’re lazy and more predisposed to criminal behaviour?"

they used to say the same about makelele, not because of his skin colour but because there was a rumour that he had a massive knób. Hence my question above.

“Kick It Out is aware of repeated racist chanting by supporters of Manchester United today (23 September),” the statement read.
“Kick It Out would like to reiterate its stance that such behaviour has no place in football. Romelu Lukaku himself has requested that the supporters ‘move on’ from singing the chant in question, and Manchester United now has a responsibility to ensure that the request is complied with.”
