probably an old topic but does anyone know the delay on five live football commentary? Listening to Wales Austria game now on the digital radio versus the online radio player, the radio seemed about 25 seconds ahead. The radio was digital so maybe an old analog radio MW is faster still?

Was also wondering if this 12 second delay applies to all users, is it less for those that spend more...ive not been on betfair for a long time so was surprised to see this.

cheers Stu

MW radio coverage is almost real time, and it should only be about half a second slower on digital radio.  If you're streaming video, the delay can be anything from 1 second to 30 seconds or more.

The betting delay is the same for everybody, and varies from 5-12 seconds on football matches in-play (sometimes 1 second for big matches at half-time).

MW is noticeably quicker than Digital, and way ahead of TV/satellite.

digital can sometimes be delayed to fit in with tv pictures,

proper radio is normally pretty near to live, but some commentators prattle on
so much its better to listen to the crowd noise,

Thanks for the replies, really useful info. Will dig out an old analog MW radio and compare it to the 5live my digital radio.

Donny Osmond i totally agree about the commentators prattling on...less chat and more description of the game please :)

cheers Stu
