Japan top the standings but a win for either side books their ticket for Russia next year.
Aussies would be happy to take a draw. Japan will be going into this game , going for the win as a draw doesn't really help their cause that much.(nor does it decrease their chances of qualifying) It's a free hit for Japan to gain 3 points, if not they can still draw their next game and still qualify.

Australia cant afford to lose too. If Japan win today and the Saudis beat Japan next match, Aussies would be having night mare. Dont think Aussies can sit back and relax.
If Japs win today and relax next match vs Saudis who are strong on home soil, Aussies could be out even if they beat the Thais.

3rd spot in qualifying means you have to go through 2 playoffs to make the world cup

if Saudis beat Japan by 1 goal, Australia would have to win by 4 goals or more
going to say it right now, Aussies chances of making the World Cup right now is on thin ice
Now sure what would happen if Aussies won 3-0 and Saudis won 1-0. GF and GA would be level
there is no guarantee Aussies will smash Thailand. Thailand held Australia to a draw at home in qualifying
