yep, crashed.

They had BETTER cancel these bets before they bring it up as if they bring it up and suddenly all these bets are taken, that's against their own rules.

For Gods Sake. I remembver now why I never leave a positino open near 3pm on a saturday, this sort of rubbish.

always used to crash at 3pm for football , thought they had sorted it , good omen with Cheltenham coming

THey really had better cancel them all. Iv'e got large exposure here and can't do anything with the bets, they are still listing as there but I can't cancel any of them.

I notice there are nearly 400 people viewing the football forum, It's usually less than 100, even on a Saturday, they are out there, they just don't post, unless the site goes down that is.

Site is either hacked, crashed due to traffic overload or programming error, all of which are worrying when our money is on the line. Gonna log out until it blows over.

I think I'm seeing unmatched bets disappearing so as long as they are being cancelled that's good news.

Years ago as I remember they brought the site up with bets still there on inplay games which is a total disaster, or let SOME people match bets when the rest of us couldn't do anything, another total disaster. I hope the correct procedure is followed to avoid such things, that's what emergency procedures are for..

The betfair sportsbook, is just a normal bookmaker.

you can lay off inefficiently through a bookmaker but not ideal at all

trader that's precisely they can't "refund" trading bets or such. Say you had exposure of 100 quid lay on arsenal to win and they went 0-1 down, and you then went and backed that off on betduck or something for a locked in profit, and then there was an equaliser and betfair THEN cancelled the lay .. you'd be done in. And they can't tell if you were wanting to let it run anyway as they just see a bet not a "trading bet". Thats why they need to honour the pre-matched bets but they should NOT let things that happen after it goes wrong that do people in, like suddenly let all the 0-0 or losing side bets be matched that were set pre kick off etc.

usually when this happens they cancel all unmatched bets on the markets specially keep bets , now they unsuspend the markets without clearing the unmatched bets

Good they seem to have cancelled all the bets, well done.

The software/hardware crashing isn't in their opreating staff's control but the cleaning up of the mess seems to have been done properly, so credit there.

I stopped using the site for trading (apart from a few small, fun bets) a few weeks ago, when they started farting about with the layout and made the site virtually unusable. I feel sorry for anyone with large positions to trade, but the warning signs have been there for a long time.

There is one annoyance. Keep bets couldn't be modified or cancelled and aren't auto cancelled. So they come back up and can be taken.

They should allow cancellign of bets even if market locked, that's a no brainer

I really just use the API now, after the last rehash (complete with obvious bugs) to make it far worse than it was, I just stopped using it.

The site I mean. When they brought the new one in a couple of years ago most people hated it (for obvious reasons) and many used the old one as long as possible.

They should hold their heads in shame utter contempt they have for their customers is unbelieveable.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused"..........that's all you get, folks, because we hold you in utter contempt. ANY inconvenience? During the busiest two hours of football in the week! Says it all, really. Please don't bother us with your complaints, we don't care and we don't listen. We rammed through the new site, in spite of all your warnings. And, yes, maybe we ARE squeezing you out of the exchange and onto Sportsbook, aka Paddy Power.
Less fancy-Dan marketing and more attention to your systems, please, Betfair. How can it take a company of your size so long to correct a problem like this. God knows, it's not the first time. But not to worry, sending out that pathetic apology "for any inconvenience caused" is plenty good enough for us customers.
