Very sad story .
Torino lost their entire squad except an injured player in 1949 on Superga , they had won the last 3 Serie A titles and in 1946 , 10 of their players represented Italy in a single match. Medellin is featured heavily in the drama Narcos about Pablo Escabar. |

Just horrible news - it was great to see Chape doing so well - this is tragic. The club has asked that people still attend the stadium at match time for a candle lit vigil. Nice gesture and Nacional's gesture is excellent. RIP

I swore I would never fly again after all the cost-cutting and my last trip to the US. It just occurred to me when I was last over the Atlantic, there was nowhere to go if anything went wrong. Maybe you get a bit scared as you get older. I think this will happen more and more now. That said, my heart goes out to the relatives, what a horrible way to go. Rest in peace, all.

The plane which crashed in Colombia killing most of a Brazilian football side had run out of fuel, according to a leaked audio recording.
A pilot can be heard repeatedly requesting permission to land due to an electric failure and lack of fuel. The leaked conversations between the flight crew and a Colombian air traffic controller give a glimpse of the frantic, final moments of the doomed plane. The pilot and can be heard warning of a "total electric failure" and "lack of fuel". Just before the tape ends, he says he is flying at an altitude of 9,000ft (2,743m). The plane slammed into a mountainside near the Colombian city of Medellin late on Monday. |

The plane was flying at its absolute maximum distance, without enough additional fuel. Aparently, it should never have been allowed to take off from Santa Cruz in the first place due to the distance. They were forced to do wait at Medellín airport due to another plane reporting mechanical difficulties.Looks like the pilot failed to convey the severity of their situation to the controller until just before they crashed. |

Brazilian club Chapecoense have been awarded the Copa Sudamericana by South American football confederation Conmebol after most of their team died in a plane crash en route to the final.
Colombian opponents Atletico Nacional, who asked for Chapecoense to be awarded the trophy, have been given a Fair Play award to acknowledge their "spirit of peace, understanding and fair play". Chapecoense will be given the $2m (£1.57m) in prize money while Atletico Nacional will receive $1m (£787,000). |

Incredible seemingly they just filled up with the fuel necessary for the journey to save money , only had a reserve worth about 10 minutes.
Another plane had a problem so they were told to stay in the air for that 10 minutes |
