Hi All,

I am hoping some of the footy regulars can back me up in a dispute I have with Betfair regarding a bet settlement. Seven separate communications with Betfair have failed to get the bet settled correctly!

In the Liverpool v West Brom game I had the following bet when Liverpool went 1-0 up.

Fixtures 22 October Liverpool v West Brom / Liverpool Over/Under 2.5 Goals / Over 2.5 Goals

This is a bet I quite often have which involves picking the winner of the match and over 2.5 goals in the match.

Betfair are insisting that I had a bet on Liverpool to score over 2.5 goals and nothing else, but the rules for the bet I placed are;

Predict the result of this match AND how many goals will be scored in this match.  All bets apply to Full Time according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time. Extra-time/penalty shoot-outs are not included.

If I had mistakenly placed a bet on just Liverpool to score over 2.5 goals I would take it on the chin, but as far as I am aware there is no such bet as this? I think they are just getting confused because the way the settled bet is shown in the 'My Bets' it does say Liverpool over 2.5 goals which is confusing.

Can anyone confirm that there is in fact no such bet on live games as just one of the teams to score over 2.5 goals in a match. I have certainly never seen this...

Anyway, if I can get a few people confirming I am correct about the above it might help to get them to reconsider the settlement.

Thanks in advance,
Cobs

There is a market for team goals as opposed to match goals

There's a market for Liverpool over 2.5 for tomorrow's game.

''Liverpool Over 2.5 goals'' sounds like your bet lost. I would have thought your bet would be worded: ''Liverpool match odds and o2.5''

Thanks JC - I have looked at previous bets I have had on the same market and they always show when settled as team over 2.5 goals. They don't mention match goals but there you go...

what were the prices

I'd expect Liverpool and over 2.5 goals to be about 1/3 when they went 1 up and I'd expect Liverpool to score over 2.5 goals about 4/6 when they went 1 up

For the rules you state then I would expect Liverpool to win and over 2.5 goals in the game ie your bet to be a winner

what price did you get for your bet and what time did you place it?

that should be a good indicator of what the bet was

It seems you have gotten lucky in the past and your team has won by scoring 3 or more themselves,   this is clearly a TEAM to get 2.5gls not a team to win and overs.   Sorry :(   I hate to say it but it sounds like with the wording given BF are indeed correct.

For the bet that you are looking for, see JC1326's post above.   as both markets do indeed exist,  ie team to win and over 2.5 match goals,   along with a second market of over "x" goals for a particular team

Thanks for the replies.

Toffee, I placed the bet at 17:52 at odds of 1.7 after 22 mins when Liverpool went 1-0 up. Based on your odds prediction for the markets I might have to accept that I fckd up.

My paranoia was fuelled when the first time I contacted the chat help they told me the bet had not been matched and stakes would be returned. Maybe I should have taken that instead of querying how come it was settled as a loser then!

Will leave it there, cheers anyway.
