If Jose can find an xi capable of parking the bus, that 11/4 Man U could look very big
Lets not forget LvG found a way to win at anfield last jan...

even at this stage of the season a long way back for united if they get beat here. could be miles behind the top 4 positions given the other fixtures next weekend

Okay cats lets talk turkey
If Burnley can beat Liv off 20% ball i think there has to be an argument that Jose can pick an xi out of that Man U squad to win off double that amount of possession.
Liv hi tempo pressing game relies on the opposition to come out and play.
If you park the bus and defend deep then that tactic becomes redundant.
Factor in LFC historic inability to defend cross balls and set pieces and then it behoves us as punters to entertain the away win here.
This was the xi when Man U won at anf january
DdG
Young
Smalling
Blind
Darmian
Scheiderlin
Fellaini
Ander
Lingard
Martial
Roo

Liv were under a bit of a cloud at the time, with injuries and fitness issues but taking that as a template there at least two upgrades in selection Mourinho can make..
Namely Pogba and Zlatan coming in for poss Schneiderlin and Rooney
Starting to look good..
Back 4 ought to be much more solid too.
Bailly and Smalling look just about good enough if protected by a midfield 3 of Pog, Ander and Fellaini.
I would think Blind would be shunted out to left full back with TOni Valencia on the right.
Shaw hasnt played since the watford debacle and is unlikely to return in this one.
Obv De Gea picks himself.
That just leaves the awkward question of who does Jose put out wide up front to feed the big swede?
Simultaneously they must have the work rate to track back and protect the full backs as the liv pair are going to be bombing forward.
This pretty much rules out most of the star forwards in the squad, Martial, Rashford, Mata, Memphis I am afraid.
Big fan of young Lingard.
He can do a job on either wing.
Rest of the squad not exactly choc a bloc with outstanding candidates for this role..
Only obvious one is Ashley Young although I wouldnt put it past Jose to stick Fosu-Mensa or Rojo in as full backs and have Toni V and
Blind pushing forward into a midfield 5.
Either way
I believe there is a Man U xi that can nick this

GK DdG
RB Toni V/Fosu-M,
CB Bailly,
CB Smalling,
LB Blind/Rojo
MF Pog,
MF Ander,
MF Fellaini
RW Young/Toni V/Lingard,
CF Z,
LW Lingard/Blind.

The chinese military tactician Sun Tzu did say something along the lines of
'We have done everything in our power to preclude the possibility of defeat. Now it is up to the opponent to allow us the possibility of victory'.
You would think its a lesson that has been applied by Jose throughout his career.
Look at his Chelsea team. It went toe to toe with the best Barca side of all time and I think if you take all matches between the two
the results were pretty even.
Beating Liv ought to be more straightforward.
Jose has always talked about how in big games it is the team that makes fewer mistakes that triumphs.
The onus will be on the home side to attack, making them more vulnerable in the face of discipline and organisation.
Lot of talk about City, Liv and my Spurs this season with their hi tempo football representing a new kind of football.
Suggestions are that Jose has gone at the game...
Anyway we will find out in 7 days. I believe we will know from his team sheet if Mou still has the goods..
See you on the other side suckers!!

Its really their 'cup final' Im afraid. For me as a United fan, I see this like a Burnley game or away on a rainy night at the riverside

Not really that concerned if we only picked up the solo point tbh. In the greater scope of things we will pick up more bigger points elsewhere, and shouldnt really concern ourselves with mid-table fare.

As I stressed before its their cup final really and hopefully they will enjoy their big night without causing too much trouble

.. So we will play for 90 minutes, wait for the final whistle and then we will move onto more important things.
