WHERE ARE THE PUBLICITY LEECHES LIKE CHRIS EVANS, FAT DANNY BAKER AND THE REST NOW?

THAT IS ONE TRAGIC SITE - HE WILL BE DEAD BY CHRITSMAS AT THE RATE HE'S GOING, PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF HIM BECAUSE HE'S NOT VERY BRIGHT, AND ONCE HIS STAR DIED THE LEECHES CLEARED OFF LEAVING HIM TO ROT, THEY SHOULD ASHAMED

We don't know what his friends are doing / have done for him. You'd like to think whatever they have done, they'e kept it quiet out of both self-respect and respect for Gascoigne himself.

Yes though, as an outsider this does seem a desperately sad case.

I'll always remember him in the 90-91 season at Tottenham absolutely running rings around opposition week-in, week-out.

He was (consistently) the best footballer I have ever seen in the flesh

TYPICAL SPUDS FANS wearing the rose tinted glasses besides the fa cup run he was bog average for spuds and if you compare his performances for newcastle theres no comparisson, every monday night on n east news was like watching a goal of the season competition, and i,m a boro fan who hates newcastle

I was a Spurs season ticket holder in 90-91.

Game in game out he ran the show that season and he was as far from 'bog average' as it's possible to be, in fact to use the well-worn phrase at some points it was men (or a man) against boys, so much was he on a different level to everyone around him.

Like I said, he was brilliant game in, game out that season and not just in the cup but if you want a highlight that sticks in the memory his hat-trick against a decent Derby County side with Mark Wright and Peter Shilton. One outstanding dribble, round Shilton and a tap in, one 25 yard free kick to Shilton's left then a similar one to Shilton's right - after pointing to him where he was going to put it!

Yeah - he really was that good that season.

Christ, I like a drink myself but tend to stick to lager if I'm watching the football or out for a meal. This poor man downs bottles of spirits for a laugh. I can only imagine it's with the 80k he got for his phone being hacked.

If I had my way I would lock him up for two years to protect himself from further damage but that wont happen.

PS He gave more to Rangers than he ever did to Spurs but that's not the point.

classic case of lost syndrome when career finished, not bright enough for management, pity no one could sort out a job for him working with youth academies though.

Nothing wrong with that in which case you should question the OP as to why he started the thread.

RAPS, the point I'm making is there hope for some alcoholics, sadly there's little hope for those African kids you mention. There should be, but there isn't.

Horrible disease and he can't be too many more drinks away from death. Sad

Great player for us aka especially when Brian Laudrup was in the same team. I think that was the time we nearly got into the Champions Final. (against the French team?) Unstoppable in Scotland and would have given any of the top four in England a proper game.

Sickening to see those photos but sadly I have no answer.

Nowt anyone can do other than locking him away for his own good but that won't happen.
The only person who can save him is himself but hard to see him pulling himself clear now. Sad

the problem is he is like many other street drinkers that plague our towns and cities and nothing is done about that

if they had highly contagious diseases they would be taken off the streets and put into secure quarantine wards in hospitals

why cant there be a law like that for these lost souls

they are a danger to themselves and their dependents

you dont have a right to drink yourself to death

a friend of mine did the same thing and was about gazzas age

there was nothing we could do about it

even the local pub was reluctant to stop serving him

it wasnt until we threatened them with violence that they did

we had to do it with corner shop as well

but they always find a way to get drink be it via taxi or home delivery or even so called friends
