Leaving would be terrible for our economy. First time buyers might be happy if house prices fall through the floor, and British exporters might be happy with a much weaker pound, but overall it would be very damaging.

That's not just speculation, you can see how massively the FTSE and pound have strengthened over easing fears (less likelihood) of a Brexit.

what about the money we save from not being in this 'club;
Report jucel69 June 23, 2016 3:18 AM BST
Here is a simple take on things.

UK exits the EU

Sterling drops by 10%

Exporters are charged 5% to 10 % tariffs by EU countries - I don't believe this will happen but there is a contra there. 10% gain on exchange rate with 10% tariff

So far the exporters don't gain/lose

Now look at the consumer

We exit the EU and sterling drops 10%

However, we remove all tariffs on all countries across the world.

Prices go up 10% due to the exchange rate but fall in real terms due to the tariffs being reduced to ALL countries.

We could now see 5 to 10% reduction in prices for consumers.

Therefore the consumers are now happy & the economy should grow

UK is approx 65% consumption, 30 % exports so the consumer gains outweigh the contra on exporters.

Add to this 10 billion we save from EU fees, access to our waters to fish again (hopefully) & we should thrive. Take the shackles off the UK.

Report moneyburner June 23, 2016 3:19 AM BST
the problems you mention aren't necessarily the result of the uk being in the eu, and the immigrant issue is mainly due to world trade and free markets and war, all of three of which the UK support wholeheartedly, these issues are not going to magically disappear, none of these problems are going to get solved by leaving the eu, in my opinion staying is the best of two bad options, it could be worse, much worse...if we go out and it's not ttip it will be the comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement and the Trade in Services Agreement, both an utter nightmare compared to ttip, we have lost control either way it goes, sell out to Europe or the US, that is the basic choice here it seems to me

Report TheInvestor2 June 23, 2016 3:23 AM BST
You don't need to speculate...

Just look at what the odds have been for Brexit and where the stock market / pound has traded.

"The pound has rallied strongly against the dollar and the FTSE 100 has soared in the wake of polls and betting markets suggesting Remain ahead in the run-up to the EU referendum."

So it's pretty black and white what the markets are saying: leaving is bad (at least financially). This is people all around the world with real money on the line, not some politician on one side or the other merely trying to win an argument.

Some people might think it will be a net gain to leave, but the consensus in the financial markets is the exact opposite.

That's what they are doing, speculating.
Just because the FTSE goes up, it doesn't mean it's good news.
Every time more QE is introduced or a bank is bailed out, the market goes up. Believe me that ain't good news.

what a farce that turned out to be, glad i didnt hang around for it, wd winners.

what are you going to do now brain dead jockeys?  chile 9/4 to win it all

not sure if fatigue after a tough semi final will play a part in the final on sunday night, its not like a tuesday night 4th round league cup tie that nobody wants to play in, anyone that starts injured or not will be running themselves into the ground.
Report Rider June 23, 2016 2:52 PM BST
farce indeed, was on overs and should have got out at half time and gone to bed but they kept putting the start time back, dont think the pitch played too bad but the long break might have affected the players, 2 clear penalties not given, the doctor (howard webb equivalent in the USA) said the long break must have affected the ref not to give it! problem is he then evened things up at the other end by not giving another blatant pen on sanchez, its a goal backers nightmare...

going to be a great final, argentina look good with chiles style of play, beat them previously without messi so hopefully bring home the ante post bacon
