He got no service whatsoever. Nothing creative in the middle or down the flanks.
By:
Agree with above, he is a good player, needs service, will not get it from Stirling or la la
By:
To be fair to Harry.. It's a bit difficult to score from a corner when you're the one actually taking it.
By:
Perhaps Roy needs to frame the team around the players who score goals, not around the players who don't score goals.
By:
he had nothing to go at whatsoever last night. all the chances fell to llalana, sterling and rooney
By:
pretty sure if he'd had la la's chance it would have ended up in the bottom corner
![]() |
By:
thats because lala had to get in the box beause walker wanted to play where lala should be playing same with rose and sterling on the other side ,the good news is should we progress walker and rose will have to do plenty of defending and wont be bombing forward getting in everyones way and by default like we usualy do we,ll stumble upon our best formation,
i for one do not want to see kane, rooney, ali, lala, sterling, vardy passing the ball in the last 3rd to 2 journeymen fullbacks in rose and walker, its like going to see a concert and the backing singers given the spotlight |
By:
how does walker play for england
to call him a journeyman is an insult to journeymen Rose is a bit better |
By:
journymen as compared to the players who,ll produce the bit of magic that might get you a result, maybe one of the reasons england are rocky at the back is because the fullbacks are to busy trying to be ronaldo at the other end
By:
good strikers get themselves in the right position
and make it happen, no way international class |

Woy hasn't a clue who the best 11 players in England are....

Leaving Townsend at a home a big mistake.

That Russian goal doesn't go in and we're all sitting here saying it was one of the best England performances in a real meaningful competition since forever.
So Kane - a man played to death by club and country, and carrying the former for the past 2 years - didn't murder Russia single-handedly. Well that's it then for the lad isn't it? |
By:
indeed roger. not a lot to beat i know but it was by far the most convincing performance by england at a major tourney since probably 2004
By:
let's just remember how bad the russians were though....as poor a russian side as i can remember, they look bottom of the table material....
By:
Poorer than Costa Rica, USA, Slovenia or Algeria?
By:
Appalling service for Kane. Can't blame him for that- Sterling however can. His final ball is so poor. That said Vardy should have replaced Kane as soon as we scored.
By:
Kane should be an automatic selectionas we need someone to take the corners.I reckon Stirling will be a good price for first goalscorer against Wales
By:
Just been looking art the price for Stirling to be first goalscorer against Wales .No prices yet but hoping to get about 10,000-1

Kincsem sums it up.
You don't just fluke 20+ goals. We supposedly played well yet didn't create a single opportunity for what should be our main goal threat? For a start off he needs more support - Roy seemed to want to just sacrifice him as a hold-up player rather than a goalscorer. He isn't ever going to run past three or four players as he doesn't have the pace. Sadly, it looks to me as if he is short on confidence. It goes without saying he badly needs a goal. The chances of that are not going to be improved by taking corners but not free kicks. Both those situations should be easily rectified. Personally, I would bench Rooney in an attempt to try and quicken our play up. Too often Rooney just slows the tempo down. I think we need more pace through the central area rather than just relying on the full-backs pushing forward. |

Not much of an argument when Bent, Beattie, Johnson all got 20+ Drop Rooney? Best game he had in years... |
By:
31 and then 28 goals in successive seasons. only the very best forwards in the history of the prem have had successive 25+ goal seasons. can count them on the fingers of 1 hand
By:
If Kane gets the chances he gets the goals. I agree, drop Rooney. I think its clear Hodgson's never going to drop him though. Sterling is a waste of a place so there is obvious opportunity to improve on what was a promising display with poor finishing and terrible tactical calls from Hodgson.
By:
Rooney plays well and we manage a draw against a relatively poor side with a goal from a set piece that many goalkeepers would have kept out. Hardly a massive influence. He is well past his prime and has already had far too many opportunities at competition level.
We all know he is fond of checking back and sweeping the ball out wide but even if the wide players deliver a decent ball who is going to put the ball in the net? It seems crazy relying so much on width if you don't have much of an aerial threat. |
By:
Kane needs a rest
I hope after these Championships he gets told to go and lie on a beach for a fortnight and relax, even if this means him missing some pre-season training and not starting for Spurs until mid-September. The guy is still young, a proven goalscorer, the best two-footed player in the squad, quicker than many give him credit for and skilful too. But he's been played to a grease spot for 2 years straight and looks shattered. |

drum,s getting there, the snobby football pundits,ex players etc love a sweeping 60 yd crossfield pass, i cry into my pringles everytime i see our so called best players passing the buck to journymen fullbacks
if rooney has the time and space to get his head up and pass a ball 50 yds ,he has the time to do something far more positive with it, by playing it wide a, the balls got to travel 50 yds, defense shuffle over b,walker, rose have to control it c,make their mind up what to do with it with in most cases less time andmore pressure than the so called superstar who,s just passed it to them belgians a prime example last night all them so called superstars last night and 90% of their final balls last night were left to the right back a 30 odd yr old 2nd divison pub player who no ones heard off if woy and co think kanes the best crosser of a ball in the side why dont they play him where the fullbacks are picking all these balls up and play vardy down the middle |
By:
Hopefully he'll spend the rest of the tournament on the bench now........come on Vardy!!!
By:
Harry's looked nervous and out of his depth to be fair.
Absolutely comical free kick efforts too. ![]() |
By:
Under pressure for a plaice is Harry
He'd have been better without that knob Sterling mind you |
By:
Kane and Sterling bore an uncanny resemblance to Laurel and Hardy
By:
We need Vardy on for sure, as Alan Shearer stated, Vardy has a strikers instinct, Harry Kane just looks tired
By:
dont think we played that much better 2nd half, woys got problems because we,re going to need some quality width not full backs later on,we may even have to return to sterling at some point, maybe even kane out wide ,woy got lucky because there was no need for rasford to come on,wiltshire should have been on to find a pass, suicide to flood the pitch with central strikers against the better teams
By:
Harry does look tired. Will he start the next game, or does Roy go with Vardy and Sturridge?
By:
This thread is typical of the English build em up and knock em Down syndrome. Kane very good player, back him all the way, he's got loads of ability, bit young still. Either that or Arsenal- itis op

Kane is the best English striker since Shearer. Just tired and probably needs a rest. Didnt get a break last summer and hasnt got one this summer

1st time poster 16 Jun 16 19:51 dont think we played that much better 2nd half, woys got problems because we,re going to need some quality width not full backs later on,we may even have to return to sterling at some point, maybe even kane out wide ,woy got lucky because there was no need for rasford to come on,wiltshire should have been on to find a pass, suicide to flood the pitch with central strikers against the better teams I agree with a lot you have to say. The game was crying out for Wiltshire. I was impressed with Rashford nonetheless. It is not fair to scapegoat Kane but we need strikers with pace and movement. Sterling looked better today, we need Sterling but he is not at the races. I would prefer to see Rooney playing like Pirlo and pushing JW upfield. Three from JW, Rooney, ALi and Dier or maybe all 4 and just Sturridge and Vardy All in all it is a bit late to be thinking about this |
By:
I meant Sturrisge looked better today not Sterling

What did you expect from a Tottenham player? Choked as usual once the going got tough. Highly untrustworthy I'm afraid but that's Spurs all over.
