The people who had pre match bets on this will be stung badly when this match is played on Tuesday for the following reasons:
1. The match is now a dead rubber.
2. The match is played 4 days before a Cup Final.
3. The Man Utd team will be all reserves playing.
Surely all these bets placed are voided and the markets reloaded in these circumstances.

Maybe the same squad needs to be used , highly unlikely though as they could just say they are injured and wouldn't try as hard anyway.Bets should be void

For every person on the wrong side of it, there's someone on the right side of it.

Surely they're not, as per the rules.
I don't necessarily disagree that the circumstances of the match are now dramatically different, and I feel for the backers of the 1.4ish prices in light of this, but - as usual - you make your point poorly and your love of the sound of your own voice means you don't really address the issue.

I have no bet on this Man Utd match but it could easily be any of us stung on any match in the future if this rule is strictly applied in these circumstances.

I have got money tied up on this match,would I have placed the same bet 4 days before a final,NO.
was hopping it would go beyond the 3 days too, I had man unt, man city, wind double on the sun acca, so cant complain, but I do feel those who had accumulators and singles going on to man unt have got a raw deal..... Hope they win for you who are waiting on them... Good luck..
This is utter rubbish. I had a sizeable bet at 1.41 as they had to win to stand a chance of top 4. The situation surrounding the match has changed completely now they are pretty much dead for champions league and the price has (rightly) moved out to 1.57 - so I'm now stuck with a badly priced bet that I can't really get out of without a 12% ish hit. Utter garbage. Bets should have been voided on previous game and common sense used despite the 3 day rule.

Betfair did not follow their rules when they voided the infamous horse race.

It's possible that I laid some of your bet and I find it hard to disagree with you.
They can't possibly have a case by case rule; anyone with half a brain can see that, as consistency and having something in black and white to rely upon is of paramount importance. So what's the solution? I think that voiding bets for matches that are abandoned without starting is fair enough. Wouldn't have thought that it would hit the Betfair bottom line too hard and it'd be difficult for anyone to argue that this approach was unfair.

I'd kinda forgotten about this. Have to say I'm delighted - Man Ure suffer international embarrassment AND their price goes up by 50% after I've laid them at 1.4. Was thinking of greening up but I'd probably have laid them at 1.65 under the circumstances so will just let it ride.
