Mangala - £42m yet looks like he's never seen a football before.

Otamendi - £28.5m see above

Bony - £25m - Looks like a fish out of water.

Fernando - £12m - What does he do?

Fernandinho - £34m - The odd good game but very average.

Sterling - £50m (Laugh) just a younger Theo Walcott

Jesus Navas - £15m - a Spanish Theo Walcott

Other than De Bruyne who had looked decent before his injury, what a shocking state of affairs. Their scouting network need shooting.

Blimey. That's awful. I think many saw Sterling as a flop waiting to happen, but that's still a shocking waste of money, miss after miss after miss.

That said, the reality is they always get robbed because the owners have unlimited cash, but that unlimited cash will never buy Pogba, Reus et al

Writing off a player (Sterling) after less than 1 season at a new club.  I learnt my lesson with Willian of chelsea.  Not wise to judge too early.

ffaith- agreed but was Sterling a world class player at the time City bought him ? imo absolutely not- nor is he now and it's still very much unknown if he ever will be. atm he is a rich mans Wright-Phillips: feet too quick for his brain.
Bony- not the buy to send them into the upper echelons of European football.
Over the years, since the oil money, City have wasted so much money on the flavour of the day footballers and that is why they still can't dominate English football (as they almost certainly should) let alone European.

My take has always been that he was flattered by proximity to Suarez, ditto Sturridge.

He looked a world beater with Suarez, without, not so much.

We'll see what happens, even if you subscribe to this theory, he's clearly better than what he's shown so far. Pep might pep him up.

I hope he improves, I like players who will take players on, not just take the easy way out with the crab pass.

If Mangala costs £42m, what price Varane?

Sterling still only 21.  His early Liverpool form and his displays for England in the WC make me think he can become a tremendous player esp. under Pep.

ff- perhaps he can but at best he was/is a very rough diamond not a world class player and I'm not totally sure about this but it seems Pep buys the finished article not potential ?

He could have taken a leaf from their book and have stayed at Liverpool and developed, instead of running after the money at the first opportunity. He put a £50M target on his own back after saying he was too big for LFC as a 20 year old.

Ok, then Raheem show us. He hasn't.

ff-The question is the transfer dealings. I cannot say what he will be but I can say my opinion of what he is. And I think most agree would Sterling would not get into many of Europe's top teams. Indeed he frequently doesn't get into a poor City side (this season at least). The bottom line is: if you want to be the best football team in the world you are going to have to buy your way there. City have been making a bodge of that since the money men came- surely that is not in doubt?

Yeah agreed DD.  I think outside influences may be the only thing that stops him developing into a top player.

I think Man C transfer dealing have been shocking for a while.  It seems football agents like Mendes have got their claws into the club.

I am sure under Pep that the only reason for signing a player will be because of his footballing ability.

I agree entirely ie not his potential but his ability now. Pep doesn't stay at a club long enough to reap the rewards of 'potential'.

Yep, Pep might get the best out of him but he will not wait around too long for him to deliver. Pep has been brought in to win the CL in the next 3-4 years. It will be up to Sterling to show him he is up to that standard, if he's not he won't play and he might even be gone.

I suspect Pep will give him every chance right from the off though.

He left LFC 2 seasons too early.

Same reason Chelsea have never attracted World class players.

World Class players prefer to go to prestigious clubs with history.

Not franchises.

Sterling is potentially a fantastic footballer. All up to him now and has possible flaws in his personality given how he behaved prior to the move and some of his decisions off the pitch but he's wonderfully gifted, brave, strong and quick.

Fernandinho is also a very good player, not sure why he'd possibly be criticised. Well I do, City always pay over the odds for players so the dumb public's expectation goes up by the same level.

Fernando - garbage.

Mangala - laughably bad, one for the authorities to look into that deal.

Bony - was a good big fish, but struggling now in a bigger pond.

Otamendi - has had some very good games but some poor ones too, first season here though so plenty of scope to be a success.

Navas - not good enough.
