I've more or less given up on this Forum, sadly, as its a shadow of its former glory. Nevertheless, as its Cheltenham this week, and being in a good mood, and in the spirit of sharing a few thoughts, I thought that I might throw a few tasty value morsels onto the forum, just in case there are players out there who haven't spotted these opportunities.

This will be a good week for finding some value and there are 3 right now to be had right here on Betfair.

1. BF Sportsbook are offering 3 free bets up to a maximum stake of £25 if you back a winner of 3/1 or more on the Sportsbook on the first day of Cheltenham
That seems quite generous as its the equivalent of 3 points on the price. A 3/1 winner becomes 6/1 so thats a 100% bonus. On a bigger price it obviously is not as much value (+10% on 30/1 shot for example) but if I'm thinking of backing a 3/1 shot or bigger tomorrow then it makes sense to have £25 of that on this offer. Not going to make a fortune but , hey , I'll take the opportunity. Hopefully, they will have similar offers on the other days.

2. Whilst browsing around the site I came across the Free Play 6 on the Pools site. You can get a free play to win £1M with the opportunity to cash out.I'm not one for believing that I have an edge when it comes to forecasting football scores but they (Collosus) offer a random scores generator which saves having to make an effort. I think that this offer has been around for a while but nobody is making much of it which seems strange, especially as you can play it every week for free. I can't quite understand why Betfair don't have this fairly prominently on the Homepage as its a low cost traffic builder. I don't expect to win the million on offer (somebody will no doubt) but if I get a few scores right I'll cash out. As Phil Bull once said, "the best bet is a bet to nothing."
[/i]

3. Whilst on the Pools page I noticed that  the Pick 4 Pool has a £125,000 roll-over. This is a bit of value given that the odds of calling the scores correctly are 83,520 to 1 . The matches are the 4 European matches this week (Wed, Thurs nights) so I think that even I have some chance of improving those odds by up to a factor of  8 (I will rule out Arsenal winning by a large score against Barcelona for example, and I don't think that Juventus will beat Bayern M  away) so I will give it a crack. When I have played this in the past I have managed to make money even though I think that chance plays too big a role in forecasting outcomes for me to be confident. But, if you were playing roulette and you get 35/1 about a 4/1 chance, it would be worth having a bet, wouldn't it? Anyhow, that's how I see it.

Be lucky

Thanks. Most of the mugs on here are already millionaires though, so offers two and three are moot

You cannot win on the Betfair Spudsbook - once you are a small winner you get allowed to bet pennies. Wink

The BF Sportsbook 3 Free bets offer paid off with Altior in the first. Not a fortune but it meant that Altior paid the equivalent of 8.0 to £25

Believe me  - the Betfair Spudsbook restrict all winners even the small time winners.

Waste of time farting about in a goldfish tank when there is a river nearby. Wink

Fair enough Westender. I've no real experience of the sportsbook, usually play exchange only. Shame if BF behave like all other bookmakers.

I can understand bookies tightening up -theyre trying to run a business   , but wouldn't harm the exchange to run a few  commision free offers once in a while  for regular customers ,or even just the non winning customers .

All goodwill

Betfair Sportsbook only make offers as the competition are rogering them and have better offers for their army of losers.

The Pick 4 Pool is £253K now so plenty of value in that. I've covered the home (Barca, Bayern) teams to win tonight with a view to cashing out tonight if its a good offer. If not, I'll let it ride.
