Your logic is meaningless though. Saying 6 points over and over. Palace and Leicester are 3 points, do they have a chance? No.

Liverpool don't have the quality in their side to make a serious title challenge. And I don't really see anyone who can make a serious challenge to Man City. The only real challenge to them is they're getting a lot of injuries.
Report mesmerised October 8, 2015 10:45 PM BST
You can't compare Leicester and Palace to Liverpool's squad and manager.

Greece never had the quality to win Euro 2004, they did.
Denmark the same in 1992.
Dortmund 11/12 were inferior to Munich, won two titles back to back.
Atletico Madrid never had the same quality as Barca/Madrid, they won the league in 14.

Man City just got battered at Tottenham and lost to West Ham, even with Kompany missing nobody saw them results coming.

Liverpool have a chance with Klopp, even with an inferior squad, a good workmanlike squad can be successful.
Report n88uk October 8, 2015 10:53 PM BST
You can't compare winning the Euro's to winning a league either. And this Liverpool side is really poor quality wise, doesn't matter how good the manager is.

Man City got battered with their entire defence and Silva missing. Even so they're far too strong for anyone domestically. The only side that doesn't have any real weaknesses domestically. No team in the Premier League is good enough to expose their weaknesses.
Report mesmerised October 8, 2015 11:00 PM BST
Their entire defence wasn't missing, their two full backs had played every game this season and are just as good as the other two options who are injured. And even with Siva missing, man for man they were superior, bar the keeper. If you don't want to take the example of Greece/Denmark, then Atletico who are far inferior to Madrid/Barca still won the league after 38 games and Dortmund the same in 11/12, point being is, he has a track record that can't be ignored. Your high opinion of City is laughable, Toure is half the player he was, Sterling is looking average surrounded by better attacking players, and whoever is paired with Kompany be it Demechellis, Otamendi or Mangala are very average defenders. I don't think Liverpool will win, but only a stupid gambler would write them off.
Report n88uk October 8, 2015 11:13 PM BST
Sagna and arguably Kolarov are not first choice though.

The problem with your examples is the club examples are all managers who had time to assemble the team to do that and get the players to fit what they wanted to do. Something Klopp at Liverpool doesn't have. He has a poor side, poorer than your examples, who don't even really fit the style he played at Dortmund.

My opinion of City is not that high, my opinion of the other teams is that low.
Report mesmerised October 8, 2015 11:34 PM BST
Zabaleta is not better than Sagna, and Clichy is not better than Kolorov, last season they played a similar amount of games so it's a non point really, they were hardly weak links, those two full backs up until those games had the best defensive record in the league. You said Liverpool don't have the quality in their side to mount a serious title challenge, quality-wise they're probably the fifth best squad, but even the fifth best side if well organised under Klopp can make a challenge which defensively under Rogers, they were not. Pelligrini is a very average manager who had only won the title because Liverpool threw it away.
Report dlarssonf October 8, 2015 11:47 PM BST
Mesmerised you are making out that the Premier League title race is competitive.  It's not , the fifth best side not matter how well organised have no hope of winning the league.  Liverpool to finish top 4 would be a result , no chance in hell the win the title no matter how anybody dresses it up.
Report themover October 9, 2015 12:19 AM BST
"Their entire defence wasn't missing"

Which is our first choice defence please? (include the keeper if you like)

"are just as good as the other two options who are injured"

Sagna is nowhere near as good as Zabaleta, and Kolarov isn't as good at defending as Clichy (but does offer more up front)

"those two full backs up until those games had the best defensive record in the league"

with a different keeper and two difference centre-backs

"Toure is half the player he was, Sterling is looking average surrounded by better attacking players, and whoever is paired with Kompany be it Demechellis, Otamendi or Mangala are very average defenders"

Well Toure is 32, still a beast on his day and there is noone else in the Premier League anywhere near him in that role. Sterling has played 8 league matches  for City and they are top of the league, I know you don't get long to settle in nowadays but come on! At least it's 8 games more than Wilshere has contributed I suppose Laugh

"Demechelis, Otamendi or Mangala are very average defenders"

Hang on, a sentence earlier you were saying Sagna and Kolarov were part of a back four with the best defensive record in the league and now (Kompany excluded) the other 3 centre-backs are average Laugh
Report mesmerised October 9, 2015 12:30 AM BST
The point about the defence is the two full backs weren't weak links, last season they were rotated so they can't be seen as having a full defence misisng, so citing them as part of a reason why they were battered is pointless. Sagna is a superb Right back and is as good as Zabaleta, and Clichy defensively is even at Arsenal was a very poor man's Ashley Cole. Those other three Centre backs are bang average but one of them got away with it with playing with the first choice back 3 plus hart.

You have to accept Toure is gone at the game, bursting forward now and again when he's contract needs negotiating doesn't make him a beast...Laugh
Report themover October 9, 2015 12:36 AM BST
in 2014/15 season Sagna played 741 minutes in the league, Zabaleta played 2585 so hardly rotation, Clichy played 1662 Kolarov 1489 which is more like a rotation, but more often than not it's Zabaleta, Kompany, Mangala, Clichy
Report mesmerised October 9, 2015 12:41 AM BST
And this season he helped to keep a clean sheet in every game till Kompany was injured, those clowns in the middle are not worthy of mid table teams, but regardless of time played, and this is getting pedantic a point now, he shouldn't be cited as being apart of an inferior second choice defence when he kept cleans sheets in every game till the clown were stuck in the middle.
Report themover October 9, 2015 12:48 AM BST
I agree with that point, the problem was with the centre-backs. Kompany and Mangala had been ticking along nicely for sometime, going back to the end of last season. In the Spurs match Demichelis and Otamendi started, who had never played in a pairing before. To try and protect them Pellegrini put Fernandinho and Fernando in front of them, which I could see the reasoning behind as Toure isn't the best back tracker even on a good day! That didn't work and to make matters worse he put Toure in behind Aguero as replacement for Silva. So in one match the team went from an attacking dream to an un-coordinated mess at the back. Had few options at the back but should probably have left Toure and Fernandinho in place and stuck De Bruyne in behind Aguero and Navas on the right and gone for the "if you score 4 we'll score 5" approach!
Report The Dragon October 9, 2015 3:33 PM BST
the point i wsa trying to make was that 66/1 is too big and will in all likekyhood be tradeable
Report n88uk October 9, 2015 6:00 PM BST
It's already tradeable, because it's like half of that on Betfair, and I doubt the price will get much better than the current one as Liverpool's upcoming fixtures suggest the won't get much closer to 1st than the current gap.

Best chance for Klopp would be 4th, only to be subsequently knocked out the Champions League qualifying rounds.

After all that he will call it a day. Saying he has taken them as far as he can, before the bigger clubs come sniffing around asking for his services.

I can never understand why people say you should or shouldn't back a team for a title because 'they have tough/easy fixtures coming up'

If they do better than expected in those fixtures (which you'd fancy if you felt they could win the title) then they'll shorten even more.

If you think a team is a good value to back or lay in an outright market then just do it , all this 'wait until they played X,Y,Z ' is just an argument against betting outright at all.

Arsenal to play eight of top ten away (and Man City twice); have only been to Leicester and Palace, and will struggle at ManC, ManU, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton and West Ham

I'm a little bit less convinced that Klopp will eventually get it right.   Recent results and team selections as well as celebrating in front on the fans as if they'd just won the league after drawing with West Brom will do that.   They have looked absolutely clueless in some recent away games.
