Its strange they didn't dump him for Klopp already.  Unless Klopp really told them he was unavailable due to wanting a sabbatical (which wasn't what he originally said) or more likely they talked to Klopp and couldn't come to terms.

Klopp will probably be better off as Liverpool will likely have to come back to him on their knees later this season.

This was Stoke away from home tbf, even if it stayed 0-0. You can count on one hand how many home matches Stoke lose in a season. AND THEY WON. I have criticised him in the past but this is not an occasion for criticism.

Brendan may change the formation a lot but he still plays 2 or 3 max creative players, today was a striker and coutinho, Lallana was not playing as an attacking midfielder.

BR looks like a man trying to save his job, keeper now humping it upfield, he didnt even do that at Reading.
Report Can't Catch Me August 9, 2015 9:12 PM BST
IS. I don't understand your point at all. Ibe and Lallana wee both played as attacking midfielders but asked to defend. Exactly what you need to do at Stoke away. What would you have expected him to?

A man trying to save his job? The owners have backed him to the hilt this summer and assured him they believe in him. With all due respect. I think you have that totally wrong.

BR made tactical changes that helped us win the game. He deserves nothing but credit today.
Report homefortea August 9, 2015 9:12 PM BST
He must eat himself before the week is out and that will save Liverpool paying him off...
Report homefortea August 9, 2015 9:16 PM BST
He must be the only manager to have the whole back room staff sacked and remain in his post...

Not sure what is going on at that club..

Imagine Shankley (by the way a serial loser) being told to sack Paisley and Fagan..

What was all that about..
Report Ibrahima Sonko August 9, 2015 9:33 PM BST
Before, BR would had wanted to take 3 points at Stoke, clearly the 6-1 had a part in but Stoke were awful today.

Ibe was played like someone who ran down the right, thats it. His end product was zilch, actually it was less than that. Nice young player though.

Lallana, not sure he was on the left.

If COutinho gets injured, Liverpool are in trouble.
Report Can't Catch Me August 9, 2015 9:40 PM BST
I don't know where to start with any of that but I completely disagree.

I actually think Ibe is over rated. He's a decent prospect but not good enough to be a regular in the starting XI just yet. Ditto Lallana. So are toy criticising the Manager for picking him, or the Manage because he didn't play that well? When Sturridge is back and we revert to a diamond with him and Benteke up top, they will both be benched IMO.

It was Stoke away, first game of the season. Most teams are off the pace at this stage of the season. Rodgers tactics were to keep it tight, and maybe try and nick it. I don't think he would have been unhappy with 0-0. Which was exactly the right thing to do. We got a bit of luck and a moment of magic won all three points. He was spot on today.
Report Ibrahima Sonko August 9, 2015 9:46 PM BST
Mentioning what could happen in the future is just guessing, and you actually agreed with me on at least 2 points, never mind.

Not criticising BR for picking them, he has no choice with Lallana as he has to back up his crap purchasing. Lallana is a floating player with no position, BR makes him defend. Not seen Lallana make a tackle yet.

Earlier you said BR made tactical changes to win the game, was that what inspired Coutinho to score when his number was up on the sidelines ?
Report stridingedge August 9, 2015 9:50 PM BST
lallana is always going to be sh1te in them sorts of games he's built like a kid, it actually baffles me as to how no one got at him earlier about his physique, he looks like he has never seen the inside of a gym.

firmino is an exciting prospect, benteke will thrive with more support.

we are all guessers, there are no guarantees with new players?
Report Can't Catch Me August 9, 2015 9:53 PM BST
No the tactical change improved us immensely and stopped them targeting our left side. Coutinho was getting no joy through the middle as it was so congested. Can improved the tempo and offered much more than Milner did in that position.... Obviously the moment of brilliance wasn't down to Rogers' subs. But surely you would agree the game went much more in our favour after it?

I'm completely disagreeing with your criticism of Rodgers. I just can't see what you could criticise him for based on today's game?
Report stridingedge August 9, 2015 9:53 PM BST
Ibe does need more end product and whether he ever adds to this game is a complete guess, one thing is for sure if he doesn't produce there will be plenty of other options available and he won't be in the team.
Report Can't Catch Me August 9, 2015 9:54 PM BST
I also disagree that Stoke were 'awful' today. They were very well organised and very physical as usual. And very tough to break down, as usual.
Report stridingedge August 9, 2015 9:55 PM BST

I felt a bit sorry for him today Rothko as he didn't get much service and we didn't play to his strengths. But he was brilliant in the air and really impressed me with his feet and link up play. Had some really nice touches and was more spritelybon the bell then I expected. Think he is a great option to have. And a physical presence we have needed for ages. The team was too easy to bully last year.

Beat Arsenal.

Beat Spurs.

Getting rid of his coaches was a half arsed compromise . They wouldn't have done it if they had faith in him , but weren't ready to actually fire him too.

I'd say he is about the stage Roy Evans was at start of 1998/99 season.

Report ours4keeps August 10, 2015 8:56 AM BST
Good to revert back to 13/14 where every team we beat was awful.

And then there are the over-reactions to a performance. I thought we played ok. If the game was to be decided on points I'd say Stoke edged it but we defended well and had a true match winner in our line up.

The substitution of Can for Lallana was crucial in swinging the match in our favour. Not that the manager will get any credit for that from some.

I think I'd like to us try a more typical 4-3-3 next week. Can as the pivot with Milner and Henderson ahead in the channels, then Coutinho and Firmino supporting Benteke. Could be a bit narrow, but we have attacking full backs who can offer that (Moreno might me worth a game here) and there should be enough.

Already frightening to think who would miss out when Sturridge comes back.
Report MrMeaner August 10, 2015 9:55 AM BST
Getting points on the board is what's important at the start of the season. Winning 3 points & keeping a clean sheet away to Stoke is something the expected title challengers would be delighted at, so no reason for us not to be happy too. Seem to remember us winning our first 3 league games 1-0 the season before last. We didn't play that well in any of those games but the performances grew as the season progressed. I'll be very satisfied with another 1-0 victory next Monday night.
