The first goal is scored, markets cleared and the 1000/1 layer lays all the impossible scores after 3 secs.

1. How is this possible when there is at least a 7 sec delay?

The second goal is scored, markets opened and the 1000/1 layer somehow has managed to keep his 1000/1 lays up.

2. How is this possible when there appears to be no box to tick to keep bets placed in-play.

hoovered before the market suspend for the goal
Report Westender February 17, 2015 10:49 AM GMT
The 1000/1 lays are up there sometimes for 60 mins before the 2nd goal - how do they manage to keep in-play 1000/1 lays when the market re opens?
Report Coachbuster February 17, 2015 11:14 AM GMT
keep bets ?
Report Westender February 17, 2015 11:18 AM GMT
There is no keep bet option for bets placed in play but somehow, these 1000/1 layers are managing to keep their 1000/1 lays in play following a goal and the markets re opening.

betfair's bets?
Report The Timeform February 17, 2015 5:59 PM GMT
I've often wondered how this could be - one theory is that the website (I assume you're using BF on a browser rather than trading software) is slower to update than the API feed. So bids are put in and it takes a second or two to pop up. I don't believe that theory is correct because people seem to beat the suspend far too quickly and have these bids as the market opens. It does make me think that some higher being has access to markets with no delay to hoover them - perhaps it is the entity who is doingExcited.
Report Westender February 17, 2015 6:00 PM GMT
Could be Betfair as it is certainly someone who somehow can keep bets placed in-play when others cannot.

have you tried to contact them and asking them direct ?

Report Coachbuster February 17, 2015 6:12 PM GMT
it's a risky strategy normally  straight after a goal  -= although i'm sure BF would suspend the market if they were caught out
Report swift-tuttle February 17, 2015 6:20 PM GMT
A layer of one of these bets would have to come forward and explain how it is done.
We would have to be sure that that layer is not connected with BF (apart from being an independent layer).

Watch tonight in the correct score markets in either CL game when a goal is scored and you will see it happen should a 2nd goal go in.

There must be customers allowed to have in-play bets down as Keep Bets and they also appear exempt from the 7 sec delay.
Report swift-tuttle February 17, 2015 6:25 PM GMT
this has set a train of thought going -

which company would be technically qualified to audit Betfair?
Report pauliow February 17, 2015 6:26 PM GMT
There is a 'keep bet' option on my trading software. I'll put a small bet on tonight and monitor it
Report swift-tuttle February 17, 2015 6:29 PM GMT
on correct scores?
Report Westender February 17, 2015 6:31 PM GMT
Pre match we all have keep bets - the website does not allow keep bets for in-play bets made.
Report pauliow February 17, 2015 6:33 PM GMT
Yes it's actually 'Keep in Play' on my gruss software. Have only ever used it on market odds before the game goes in play
Report a bitofinterest February 17, 2015 6:40 PM GMT
i shall be watching these markets like the proverbial hawk for even the slightest hint of in play skulduggery
Report swift-tuttle February 17, 2015 6:57 PM GMT
this thread is in danger of losing it

you wouldn't want a keep option on a 1000 lay in play if the score is still possible
you want it in fast as soon as a goal has been scored to hoover up the impossible scores - that's what we are talking about
Report Westender February 17, 2015 7:05 PM GMT
You have not grasped it turtle

The home team score and the 1000/1 layer lays 0-0, 0-1, 0-2, 0-3.

Another goal is scored, markets cleared, however, somehow this layer keeps bets above even though made in play.
Report swift-tuttle February 17, 2015 7:15 PM GMT
yes but what bets is he going to hoover in that situation? after the second goal?
Report marychain1 February 17, 2015 7:15 PM GMT
tuttle has grasped it, it's pauliow that is confusing "keep in play" before a match starts with the inability for normal beings to do this once a game is in play.

It's BF seeding markets, shirley?
Report Westender February 17, 2015 7:16 PM GMT
Not hoovering - the layer appears exempt from market clearance for the impossible scores
Report bingo bongo February 17, 2015 7:29 PM GMT
I thought all api software had keep bets for correct score in play. Gruss does.
Report marychain1 February 17, 2015 7:34 PM GMT
Not once the game has started though?
Report bingo bongo February 17, 2015 7:38 PM GMT
Yes I think it might have been added a few years ago.
Report longbridge February 18, 2015 11:31 AM GMT
Has anyone tried placing a bet in-play using the API (either direct access or one of the third-party apps) and then tried changing the persistence from 'cancel' to 'keep'?  Just because the BF website doesn't offer this option doesn't mean the API doesn't support it, does it?

(for anyone who doesn't know, 'keep in-play- bets in these markets have the special property that as well as not being cancelled at turn in-play oif unmatched, they also don't get cancelled when the markets is supended for a goal score).

So once a market turns in-play its only possible to stop unmatched bets being cancelled when a goal is scored or red card given using a 3rd party app or direct access to the API ??

Yes Paul just lay the draw in Real game for 1.01 pre match, obviously wont get matched, then using the settings set it to keep in-play, then check it when Real score, check if its still there waiting to be matched

Report pauliow February 18, 2015 12:08 PM GMT
This is from the Gruss manual. On this basis it cant't be done, only if the bet is made before the market is turned in play!

'Keep In Play' refers to Betfair's Bet Persistence facility.

This is a global option available for markets that are turned in play, so if you have the option ticked unmatched bets will be kept when the market turns in play whereas normally they would be cancelled.

If you are betting on a soccer market then note that as long as the 'Keep In Play' bet is submitted before 'In Play' the unmatched bet will survive all subsequent suspensions during the game, however once the market is 'In Play' and you submit a bet using 'Keep In Play' it has no effect and unmatched bets will be cancelled on any suspension.
Report The Special One™ February 18, 2015 12:14 PM GMT

So according to that it can be done as long as any unmatched bets you want to keep in-play and survive any cancellations due to goals and red cards is submitted before the market turns in-play
Report The Special One™ February 18, 2015 12:19 PM GMT

Unmatched bets in any football markets only get cancelled when a goal is scored or a red card given, they wont get cancelled for anything else even if market is suspended for yellow cards, punch up, ref is discussing whether to give a penalty with linesman etc....
Report Westender February 18, 2015 12:21 PM GMT
However, we still have these 1000/1 layers in-play who lay impossible scores when goal scored, who somehow manage to Keep bets made In-Play when market cleared after another goal.
Report Get On MASSIVE February 18, 2015 12:23 PM GMT
Nothing strange about this at all. If I'm doing a football match I'll regularly lay the 1000's.

If for example a team is 3-0 up after 65mins and I think laying the 1000 is "fair value" on the losing side I will. I don't want my bet matched straight the way but the more the time decays the better value I get. I use Bet Angel and I can press "Keep All". This means it will keep my bets in the event of a goal.

If the winning team scores again I'll keep my bet.
If the losing scores on 85 mins to go 3-1 I'll keep my bet.
If the losing team scores on 70 mins to go 3-1 I'll cancel it.

By pressing "Keep All" on Bet Angel I get to keep my first in queue position if I want it.

So only possible to do this using 3rd party software

Can you not put a bet on inplay then press keep bets on the betfair interface?
Report longbridge February 18, 2015 12:38 PM GMT
No - that option only appears on unmatched bets pre-play.

Try it for yourself - there's plenty of Football in-play right now, and you can go for a silly enough price you won't get matched so can cancel once you've finsihed playing around.

You can get Bet Angel for £100 a year if you search for a discount code.

Anyone who is serious about their trading should really be getting it.

you cannot keep a 1000 lay in a market that is live and has shorter odds available ,the keep bets are hovered by super fast bots close to the server
imo ,super fast bots with nano second capabilities that are very very clock efficient  .

Why betfair bots, as I said yesterday - any api software can do this.

The Gruss manual must be out of date because its definitely possible, as I'm sure it will be with bet angel and geekstoy.

Why isn't this option offered on the website?

I know keep bets "at in-play" is but there should also be a option of "keep until matched" option, which will never cancel an unmatched bet until the in-play game elapses
