Sadly its not like those days anymore... BBC trying their best to make it relevant, however the way modern day football is now these players couldn't give a rats ass

I think the BBC have made a reasonable fist of this years' FA Cup coverage... my enthusiasm has been rekindled to a degree... but it will never be what it was... the Brooking stuff brought back some memories... went to the semi final at Villa Park and the replay at Elland Road that year... the replay in particular I'll never forget...

Clive Allen scores the goal, can't remember much else about that night.............

One of the best memories of a match in the 80's..................

thats what its about...Neutral venues, messy pitches, genuine shocks and teams going all out to win it. its all been lost now with the modern game and its  not the same at all. Soon we will be having the bloody qtr finals at wembley!!!

sums it up for me when my season ticket at Brighton costs on average £20 a game. Arsenal in the cup, that will be £33 and a booking fee. they can Fook off. - However its a sell out, so the club don't give a monkeys

Bizarrely enough I was at that game... a work colleague was a QPR fan and I got us a couple of tickets for the North Bank from a ticket agency... he then cried off so I went on my own... tried to flog the other ticket, face value £4 I believe... failed to do so and it was only then I noticed that the tickets numbers were 0001 and 0002... kept the 0001 ticket... in the loft somewhere...

leeds in 86/87 getting to semi final at Hillsboro and losing 3-2 to Coventry after ET

leeds had loads of chances in first half only for 'Oggy' to make some cracking saves

2nd half leeds 1-0 up and cruising, Ormsby tries to run the ball out on dead ball line, Bennett keeps it in and squares to Gynn 1-1 and its Coventry back in it

Oldham drawing 3-3 with Man U at Maine Road in the semi final in 1990.
Report bickers56 January 23, 2015 9:54 PM GMT
that oldham game was a cracking semi.  That just won't happen nowdays as teams are too scared to lose rather than trying to actually win.. Killed the game off now.

Wimbledon 1988 great memories'. But the excitement of the cup is fading. Rekindled for a night with AFC Wimbledon
vs Liverpool, and If you are a Camb Utd fan you will feel the same, but it is fading. A big shame.

Do you get one of those clicky things you had in the playoffs?  Must be loads left over? Hahahaha.

But is it a good night marilyn?- I personally think it shows all whats wrong about football now. Just put everyone behind the ball and hope to get a money spinning replay at old trafford. Cambridge made no effort to try and win the game, just played to not lose. Football is just becoming so boring in comparison to other sports now.

I reckon Bloom absolutely raked it in tonight though!!!

Cambridge won't think so tonight.

Neither did my daughter when Oldham beat Liverpool 3-2 in Jan 2012 ,Sterling , Sturridge & Suarez , in the best atmosphere I can recall in the last 25 years at my club.

Coventry vs spurs in 87,that houchen header was pure class, epsecially as spurs had a mighty side that season, liverpool vs Bolton in 93 when Bolton won 2-0 at anfield was an epic game as well,as a Blackburn fan we`ve never had much luck with the cup, best moment in recent years is andy todd banjoing van persie when he went to shake his hand after a one sided arsenal victory!!!
Report bickers56 January 23, 2015 10:09 PM GMT
look at all these examples.. Amazing memories but they are all from at least the mid 80's -90's. Backs up my point completely that its just not like that any longer which is such a shame.

I don`t think it`s just the f,a cup tbh,the premier league as well is becoming stale and uninteresting, despite the hype that sky feed us,the game has been marketed to a different clientele, the former working class sport is now aimed at the middle classes, the former supporters now only watch at home or in the pub,
