would think you'd recover the onside kick about 1 in 4 or 5 times. probably around 1.1 green bay then
trying to think the worst position they were in. wilson got intercepted so green bay had the ball with just under 5 mins left went 3 and out and then seattle scored twice in 44 seconds

green bay intercepted wilson for the 4th time with about 5 minutes left, up 19-7, and the game really did look dead and buried, fans leaving
the defender didn't even bother trying to advance the ball with his interception return, he just slid down, as if the game was over, there was nobody around him

A study a few years back put it at 26%. If you separate it into expected onside kick (i.e. the opposition knows its coming) and surprise onside kick its 20% and 60% respectively.
yeah to be fair the 1.01 compared to the point in the game wasn't completely inaccurate. Seattle still needed two touchdowns with only 5 minutes off the clock and Green Bay in possession at the GB 40 yard line. This almost guaranteed the closest that Seattle would be on their next possession was the SS 20 yard line with two touchdowns required and maybe 3.20 on the clock. The requirements were then a 80 yard touchdown drive, an an onside kick recovery followed by another touchdown within three minutes.
even the 2 point conversion after the last touchdown in normal time was lucky!

That is too small a sample to go by. This year alone the percentage is 36% but you cannot go off of one season to call it, you need a bigger sample size. The stats from 2000-12 put it at 19.7% That is a far truer sample size
I would expect with it being such a big game both teams would have been practising it all week.
Im sure they did practise onside kicks and OK recoverys but with the ovlong shaped ball its nearly impossible to tell which way it will bounce.
yep it's difficult when you gotta get it to go 10 yards and give your players a chance to recover it. always like pure luck generally with as happened last night a player on the defense making a mess of catching it before allowing the offensive players to recover the rebound
