This might be the South American equivalent of the Europa League but this game is still massive, absolutely massive. So big in fact that River Plate virtually threw away the league on Sunday to concentrate on this match. They played second place Racing but played boys and lost allowing Racing to lead the league with only two game to go. Madness.
But River are not in the same form they were a month or so ago. Then they looked head and shoulders above anyone in Argentina. Now they look as if they have ran out of gas. And the pressure is on them tonight. Not only have they thrown away the league for this game but they could be knocked out of the Copa Sudamericana by their deadliest rivals in their own backyard.
Boca will love this. They call River the chickens because they reckon they bottle games like this. All the pressure is on River. Boca are in decent form and they were careful not to concede an away goal in the first leg and made sure it finished 0-0. They will play on the break tonight. They went to River in the league last month and came away with 1-1 draw when River were in much better form. Chavez could be missing for Boca tonight and that would be a blow.

I backed that the last game Mikey and having watched neither team conjure up even a half decent chance i can't bring myself to do it again, cue a 4-4 thriller

If River fielded a weakened side on Sunday then they must be giving much more importance to this match, especially as it's against their most hated rivals. As for their recent form, form usually goes completely out of the window in derby matches and any result is possible. The first leg was 0-0 so I'm going for another very tight game with River sneaking it 1-0

Theres no champion in Argentina for the current half-season this time, they havent thrown the league away by playing a weakened side.

Nice to see your reports are back Clay, I was away and couldn't see the match, so had to catch up on here, It seems my 2-0 to Boca bet might well have come in under different circs' oh well
