An old boy was out celebrating his 100th birthday with his parents and Keane got into an argument with him and stuck the head on him in a fit of temper.

He would have had a good reason to deck them. He`s not the type of guy who would just hit someone for no reason.

agree he wouldn't hit a fan for no reason, not that stupid. I heard the fan tore pages out of the book and that set him off. Surely there were words said too

the guy allegedly approached keane and asked him to sign a copy of his book but when keane refused, the man then started ripping out pages of the book.
keane is supposed to have moved towards the guy who then fell over without being touched (according to some reports)
keane then called the police while somebody else called an ambulance.

Mr Gillespie, who is married to comedian Brendan Grace's daughter Melanie, lives in Boston in the US.
The former publican, who is friends with ex-Ireland manager Jack Charlton, had travelled to Dublin as part of his holiday, with plans to travel onto Glasgow to cheer on the Irish team.
Eager to meet Keane, he was at the team's Portmarnock Hotel when the players arrived back from a training session, equipped with a copy of Keane's recently published autobiography, 'The Second Half', for signing.
There is a history between the pair. In 2004, Mr Gillespie penned a book about his life entitled 'Confessions from the Blackthorn: Publican Frank Gillespie's Journey from Tyrrellspass to Boston', which Jack Charlton launched.
His relationship with Charlton went back to his work as a publican which saw him run the Blackthorn in South Boston. It was there that he became friends with Charlton.
He got to know the manager and the players back in 1991 when the Ireland team travelled to America for the US Cup and often frequented his bar.
In the book he included a number of anecdotes about the squad during the Charlton era, including the inside story on the 1992 row between Mick McCarthy and Roy Keane.
In his 2004 book, Mr Gillespie recalls the Four Nations US Cup in 1992.
"That's when all the so-called 'wild things' happened that are still spoken of today in the context of Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy's falling-out in Saipan just prior to the 2002 World Cup finals."
And pages later in the book, he recalls some details of an alleged "row between Mick and Roy" that may have been a precursor to the par's clash 10 years later.
Mr Gillespie, who has pictures of himself with soccer stars, posted to his Facebook page a screengrab of Keane and himself getting off a plane in happier times. Keane has his thumbs up, while Gillespie has his arms in the air.
