homefortea you are easily offended "cannot use a comma" my oh my,akabula do you think it was democratic/fair wnen the "slant" on all of the issues was overwhelmingly in favour of the NO campaign, however if you are prepared to listen to and believe a clique of lying tired politicians who will lie and cheat again and again then it is your right and the right of those that voted no,we had a chance to come up with a new model something vibrant/colourful/something challenging a change to how we shape our lives for everyone in Scotland and elsewhere,if you do not have a dream/vision then you are in a dark place.
Report high_lander September 27, 2014 12:22 PM BST
The yes campaign was a lonely place to be by polling day, it felt like they were up against the whole world. It seemed like no one, absolutely no one, wanted Scotland to be independent. With all the scaremongering about the currency, the words of warning from heads of state, banks, supermarket bosses and the extreme media bias, it was basically a terror campaign orchestrated from Westminster. It's not surprising there was a big swing to no by polling day. All the undecided voted no - of course they voted no they just spent the previous 2 weeks being terrorised by the no campaign. If you're undecided you're not going to vote for major change after being told you will have no currency, no banks, no money, higher prices, hyper-inflation (there were even comparisons made with 1920's Germany). And the ultimate terror of all - being told we would be on our own with no EU or NATO membership. The terror campaign was very destructive and very effective.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but looking back, even in the short space of time since the event, you can see how naïve the yes campaign was. The yes camp were not ready or equipped to deal with the unrelenting onslaught of terror from the no campaign. In the end it was laughable...boys against men to be honest.

HOPE/VISIONS/DEAMS We can all use words like that but where was the evidence to back them up.
NO voters saved this country from Salmond and Sturgeon who wanted separation for all the wrong reasons, personal glory.
There is also talk of food banks. Why haven't the SNP tackled them before now?
Why didn't they use the tax raising powers  they currently have to tackle them?
And illegal wars? I think I'm safe in saying that Blairs labour were voted in by most of the YES campaigners three times.
Time to get real and stop all this idealistic rhetoric. The people have spoken and only a third didn't favour THE UNION.
BETTER TOGETHER.
Report BARNEY21. September 28, 2014 2:01 PM BST
And very slightly more for No akabula, NO voters have saved this country from Salmond/Sturgeon you surely are having a laugh, with both hands and feet tied they have made a decent fist of things yet the NO voters listened to two of the most culpable/lying/corrupt politicians of recent times Broonie/Darling that have driven the country into a debt that it is difficult to see being eradicated,Joanne Lamont of the NO/Labour side just about had it right that Scots are genetically programmed to NOT making decisions by themselves, the NO voters have again placed their trust in a clique of establishment figures that have covered up the paedophilia at the heart of the establishment, but change is coming and maybe quicker than you think, none other than the Financial Times saying as much, they cannot/will not keep to their promises and the NO voters will be left looking silly, again we had so many that have no confidence that are negative that have no visions no dreams no plan b just the same tired old politics from a tired old clique instead of voting for something new/bright/colourful/innovative yeah better to stay with the same old dreary tripe, what an outlook for our kids.
Report akabula September 28, 2014 2:20 PM BST
No plan B? Salmond had no plan A for most things.
Everybody in the world wants to better themselves and make it better for future generations.
Look at the progress e have made since even the 40s last century in THE UNION.
How many people owned cars back then?
How many people owned their own homes back then?
How many families could go on holiday back then?
There are opportunities for people to better themselves but unfortunately loads don't and would rather spend their cash on cigs and booze.

Report BARNEY21. September 28, 2014 2:43 PM BST
And plan a/b/c from the established clique don't ever see any of that,do not address the corruption/paedophilia the lies, you trot out nothing but figs or stats nothing about building a far better fairer society, you say nothing about having confidence/strength of character to decide how you govern yourself  or use any of your revenue rather than having someone else pat you on the head and tell you well well aren,t you doing very well, you haven,t mentioned that BT spend 1.4billion on soccer how much to Scotland very little or how about the new rail track about 80billion to help business/travel I didn,t see Scotland mentioned did you mind you as one of them said you can always join the train at Manchester mm! sounds ok to me,the national debt inspite of the 100billions of £s 1.43TRILLION that might be going towards all the cars/homes/holidays you mention,I see that oil has crept back into the reckoning 2 weeks ago it was running out it couldn,t raise a buck it wasn,t Scotlands oil, welllo and behold there are trillions of OUR watersne,r mind Westminster will use it wisely and for our benefit.Do you not have any pride in your nation.
Report akabula September 28, 2014 3:04 PM BST
You don't need to be a separatist to have pride in Scotland, I just feel that we are better off in THE UNION.
So corruption/paedophilia/lies would all disappear simply because we became independent. How?
Confidence/Strength of character? Yes, confidence in THE UNION to continue to benefit us and the strength of character to say so.
BT spend 1.4 billion on football of which we see very little. How would independence change that?
The 80 billion to help business. It earmarks where benefits could apply and will miss out large parts of the UK not just Scotland.
We are responsible for part of the national debt so I fail to see your point there.
Oil? Don't believe everything you read in the papers. Some oil reserves will remain too expensive to extract.
And in our waters? It won't be, or at least the biggest part of it, if the Shetlands become independent.
I presume you would support their cries for independence should they gather pace.
Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland are BETTER TOGETHER.
Report BARNEY21. September 28, 2014 5:20 PM BST
Every country I have lived or worked in are immensely ptoud of their independence their ability come good or bad tomake their own decisions
no corruption/paedophilia would not dis-appear but it is not institutionalised as it is in the establishment
confidence in others making the decisions for you?  little in the way of condidence to move forward and stand on your own two feet
Independence wouldn,t change that but explain the B part of BT does part of their revenue not come from Scotland?
the 80billion "parts of the UK not just Scotland" don,t you mean parts of England so once more no mention of Scotland n a major project but that,s ok you are part of the grand plan.
we are part of the 1.4trillion debt yet here we are an acknowledged country of vast wealth/resources.
Oil will never run out FACT whether it remains the no1 provider of energy is for another day I do not read the papers I manage to glean my information from many different sources not any of them with an"agenda" one way or another.
Shetland has a population of 23,000 never a country but out we come with what if they want to become a country is there a movement or has there been a movement for this?? might suit your point of view right enough.

Even if Scotland hadn't accepted our share of the debt we would soon have had our own as it was acknowledged we'd need debt to kick start independence.

Yes TheChaser but Channel4 was not allowed to have a programme about Scottish dole cheats by ofcom in the run up to the election...

I am presently working on a documentary centered on Govan that has a provisional title...

"Why Does No-one Work In Glasgow"...

We will go into the heart of Glasgow and basically investigate why the average life expectancy is 38.Our reporters will go into the heart of Glasgow to find the 20% that did not vote in the referendum. Some on here reckon they were ill or just in bed.I would concur with that.

BARNEY21...

You are a sore loser...

Never mind I have heard that there is shortly to be announced a National (UK) Shinty League...

The team from Scotland are going to be called the Glasgow 33's in honour of their vote.

Under the New rules only a third of the team will be able to wear a sporran...Excited

I saw there was a "Hope over Fear" Independence rally in Glasgow over the weekend with an attendance of 6000. Will there be a Better Together rally or isn't Glasgow big enough to fit them all in? Laugh
