Heads should certainly roll if Chelsea fail to win a major trophy again - esp after their rest last year. I do hope for the Ch fans sake that that Costa chap doesn't get injured and behaves himself, as well as keeping his form form the season - no matter as he is prob already voted by fans as Chelseas 'best ever signing' in some polls.

Impossible to fault the business Chelsea have done this summer. Mourinho has played a blinder.

Mata and Luiz were both over rated and have been placed by world class players.
Report Regular Fries September 2, 2014 2:23 PM BST
Luiz was only even rated by Chelsea fans tbf

Lukaku. As a joke I called him Buk@ke.

Costa is an accident waiting to happen though isn't he...they won on Saturday and he's had a good start, wait until he comes up against a defender that can get under his skin good and proper but be able to handle him at the same time...he'll be sent off....the like of him Suarez and balotelli are always going to revert to type at some point, just a question of when and how much damage it causes when it happens....watch this space....

still got Mourinho though

Yes good point! Makes it even more remarkable. Three average players sold for £115m and the likes of Costa and Fabregas arriving.

Incredible stuff really and few clubs will ever have a better window imo.
Report Can't Catch Me September 2, 2014 4:03 PM BST
duffy. Pretty sure they'd take him doing anything near what Suarez did. Some players are so good its worth having them, even if there is baggage and a few sending offs... have a feeling Costa will be one of them.

Does this mean Jose wont fk up the title then like last year ?   I dont see the big deal.  He cost chelsea the title by refusing to take back Lukaku , a decent keeper and sold their only creative midfielder.  Now he has gone and bought what everyone has been telling him to do for 12 months with a bottomless pit off money and people think its great business.

Mourinho living off past success..gone at the game now

"Bottomless pit of money"Laugh  Hardly any spent with the ins and outs

Agree that Chelsea have had an amazing window.  Add Matic from January to the list and they've improved in all key areas and recouped the cash on players they didn't want.  Got great prices when buying and selling unlike United.  Did all the main business in plenty of time to sit back and enjoy the carnage of the past week.

Pains me to say it but getting 50m for Luiz was masterstroke. BR wanted Costa last season and we can all see why. No excuse not to be 1st or 2nd.

Sj - you (and most Chelsea fans seemingly) seem blissfully unaware of any of Costa's history - the 4 month ban for punching an opposition player for instance, or the 60 odd yellows and 10 reds i think by the time he was 25? He's probably ironed out his lazy training and coming back fat from summer breaks as well - oh and the long dips in form - so it should all work out swimmingly for all concerned.
Should he behave true to type at some point then I'm sure you will be the first to condemn him and all Chelsea fans (like you) that found Suarez's antics so appalling will be equally appalled - in the unlikely event that he should behave as he has done in the past of course.

I couldn't believe they got £50m for sideshow.

Pissed my sides as Brazil side with him at the heart of the defence let in 7 (which could easily have been 17)
Report mumrah September 3, 2014 11:33 AM BST
Chelsea officially got £50mil for him, but really they got £40mil.  The other £10mil went straight to Luiz, it was his signing on fee, but was paid to Chelsea to give to the player as a "loyalty" bonus or golden goodbye to avoid the French tax rate.  All the same £40mil is about £20mil too much.
Report DeSSieReborn September 3, 2014 1:58 PM BST
luiz must be one of the best sales ever.
Report SirDan September 3, 2014 3:17 PM BST
I'm a chelsea fan and I never really rated Luiz although I did like him. But lets not let the facts get in the way of a good story, Chelsea paid 30m euros for him plus Nemanja Matic who we subsequently bought back for £21m. All in all not a lot of profit was made on him at all, we probably made more on Lukaku overall.
