I think this is the worst England squad I have ever seen, but even among such absolute dross Rose stands out. It beggars the mind that someone could consider Rose capable of representing his country at football.
As for Jack Colback, I don't even know where to start.
On what criteria has he based these selections? It isn't form - because Rose has been the Premier League's worst left-back for at least a season, he was catastrophically awful for Spurs last season, our worst player by a million miles.

He still has the mid table mentality. Thats why he failed so bad at Liverpool and is failing miserably for England.

Maybe when Wembley's not even half full for this game they'll have a rethink.
Sadly, we have an easy group again in the Euro qualifiers, so it pretty much doesn't make any difference who he picks for the next couple of years. Then, buoyed by dismissing a load of minnows, he can screw up his third Major Championships. |

I think Rose being in is due to injuries and retirements. With Ashley Cole gone, Luke Shaw, Kieran Gibbs injured there's no one else left

Still cant understand why the football press are so kind to him. Lets be honest, if if had been a foreign manager he would have been shoved out the door pronto after the world cup.

the press were more interested in Suarez.....they probably realise quite rightly that it doesnt matter who manages the national side...they wont do well.

its the southern journo thing samuel,winter etc with woy at the helm they can pick the squad,as i posted the other day despite what winter and co would have you believe chambers has had 3 bog average games for arsenal but the press decided he was a shoo in and woy obliged,he ,s been that good for arsenal ist time wenger had a choice to make he benched him

What are you banging on about? Chambers is 3rd choice central defender at Arsenal behind Kos and Mert. That's not a bad place to be when you are just 19. He was never benched in the sense you make out.
He has not been bog average at all. In fact, apart from two poor decisions, he has been flawless since he made his debut. He reads the game brilliantly for one so young, is strong as an ox already, and is fearless in a challenge. He is a star in the making. Considering the lack of talent in defence these days, he absolutely deserves his call up. |

In fairness to Hodgson who is he supposed to pick?
Baines is in the squad. Cole has retired, Shaw and Gibbs are injured. I'd say he's picked Rose simply because he has to pick someone and there's not much other option. |

When will everyone in england realise changing the manager every few years will not help. We havent got any world class footballers to pick and now with all the old guard retiring there really is nobody to choose from. |
