Why cant we produce midfield players of this calibre ? We used to, Brian Robson is the last one I can recall up to this standard.

brilliant, germany can have 3 attacking midfielders with him owning the centre.

was worried when he was injured before the world cup.

Boateng has been a lot better than i gave him credit for this world cup, massive presence at the back for germany.

If Messi/Aguero put in a smidgin of Schwensteiger and his fellow team mates effort Argenrina win handsdown both of them should hang their heads in shame.

he took a right kicking in the final. looked like he was singled out by the argies but i have to give him credit, he didn't let it affect his game. he was the main reason germany won. well, that and lot of luck

why didnt he get man of the match?
By:

When: 14 Jul 14 16:31
Schweinsteiger was easily the Man of the Match.I had a small wager on him at 14/1 and am still seeing red over some poxy internet poll from an American Beer Co,more money for the Over Bloated Commercial Juggernaut of FIFA.
I knew when I placed the bet that it was going to be the Official FIFA result not the TV channels decision. What I did not realise is that it would not be a panel made up of maybe Platini,Cruyff,Pele etc but would depend on one of the worlds most Populated countries expressing their jubilance at Mario Goetze scoring an "Exceptional Goal" against their Major rivals Argentina.
As good as his 2 touches were in his 32 minute performance it in no way could hold a candle to Steigers truly Warrior Like performance.
Does anyone feel like giving up punting when you pull a Rabbit from the hat at a great price and you still get ****ed over.
An absolute disgrace!!!!!!!

think your all over reacting to to the commentators especialy on the beeb who decided he was having a blinder when in reality wasnt much better than anyone else in midfield,he was that good that if argentina had put their 3 one on ones way he,d have been playing in midfield for the favs who would have been well beaten, started the tournament warming the bench,if coetze had been half the player low described today in the ist match and lahm had stayed in midfield your superstar would have been warming the bench for a month,Wink
By:
roadrunner46
When: 14 Jul 14 20:13
why did he start the tournament on the bench, your being very naive if you think he wasnt being saved for the latter stages of the WC.
By:

When: 14 Jul 14 20:22
so lahm was been saved for right back after playing a season in midfield for bayern,it was all a cunning plan, listen to low today coetze was a deffo starter if he,d found some form in the ist 2 games

he was at the centre of everything Germany did, and he was the best player on the pitch along with boating.

all i,m saying is if your playing for the best team in the world cup, favs for last nights match, centre of everything your team does and described as awesome, how could you have possibly lost the game 3 nil, good job he didnt have a poor game, Cool
By:
1st time poster
When: 15 Jul 14 16:53
turn it on its head, messi playing for an average side hade a poor game in the area of the pitch where germany apparently had a player who was awesome, yet messi could have been in a side which won 3 nil,
if schweinsteiger had, had a poor game and messi had been awesome what do you think the score might have been, Wink
By:
donny osmond
When: 15 Jul 14 16:57
might have been 5-0 had swinesteiger not played so well

never mind 3-0
By:

When: 15 Jul 14 17:00
yet another player
with average skills
who covers his shortcomings with dedication
and effort

take him out of that great
german lineup
and what do you have?

a very average player imv
By:

When: 15 Jul 14 17:07
germany started well enough then argentina seemed to take over for most of the 1st half and germany didnt turn up for the 1st 20 mins of 2nd half
for some reason the beeb commentator and lawrenson decided that
swine was running the game, their comments actualy made me take a closer look at swine and he was no better or worse than the other midfielders on the pitch, got booked and give a stupid free kick away in the last minute
By:
roadrunner46
When: 15 Jul 14 17:41
he had THE CHOSEN ONE stitched into his boots just for the final, suppose he was chosen to do a specific job, maybe something to do
with all those interceptions he made on the night.
By:
1st time poster
When: 15 Jul 14 17:57
didnt intercept any of them argentinian 3 one on ones, Wink
By:

When: 15 Jul 14 18:01
he didnt need too, he just told them to miss
By:
JC1326
When: 15 Jul 14 18:08
must have missed something. unless everyone on here was scouting him, not so sure why the group w*nk-fest. only really outstanding thing for me in the match was Argentina's defence. says a lot when Demichelis looks competent
