overs a decent price but i prefer concentratiing on the match odds at this stage of tourney

Will be tough for the Dutchies in Fortaleza with a 1pm kick off.
Games there so far: Brazil 0 Mexico 0 Greece 2 Ivory Coast 1 Uruguay 1 Costa Rica 3 Germany 2 Ghana 2 In at least two of those games the conditions have (in my opinion) have largely contributed to the final result, with the Europeans (and Uruguay in their first game after doing all their prep at home in the cold) really struggling. Mexico will have a lot of support too. I can see a shock here. |
By:
conditions will be similar to when holland beat chile. That was an early ko and was very hot that day
cant see that being a negative for them |
By:
That was in Sao Paolo. Fortaleza is 3,000km nearer the equator and has been much hotter and much more humid. Conditions will really favour Mexico, believe me.
By:
There are going to be goals so overs for me cashing out by half time so I can enjoy the 2nd half stress free.
By:
fair does marychain but still confident that holland get the job done in 90min allbeit in less than ideal conditions
By:
Mexico are quite solid, allied to conditions, there is a chance of an upset here.

By:
i did ansan police, crazy pre game odds movement...almost fixed IMO considering D Cit 1st. Now I took o2.5 in Suwon and Gangwon. 0-0 at the min
By:
deffo mexico, its their year, the heat will help them, they already played fantastically well there v brazil, players been togetehr a long time, youth winners etc. and theyre very difficult to beat..no idea what happened in qualifying but this side has come of age...mex win.
By:
I was very impressed with Mexico last time, they toyed with Croatia and wore them out, then went for the jugular and won easily. In this heat i can see them playing a tight game for 60 mins and they going for it.
By:
I'm still not convinced about Holland. Why are they suddenly so good? They had no expectations of doing anything in this tournament. Mexico are a dangerous outfit. I wouldn't touch this one.
I think the other game is better value. Costa Rica @2.68 will surely beat Greece. The Greeks have nothing to offer except direness. If Costa Rica can smash the likes of Italy and Uruguay surely they will annihilate the Greeks. |
By:
Evens is a great price for a Dutch win.
LVG says they've fine tuned their strategy to defend against Mexico based on lessons learned against Chile (whom he says are not a lot different in how they play - with better players) and he recced the venue last year so knows what to expect and "that is the reason we tried to get the players to be as fit as possible." I don't see the Dutch having anything to worry them other than conditions which will also affect the Mexicans (to a lesser extent). |

At last! Some positivity

I'm still not convinced about Holland. Why are they suddenly so good?
LvG had 6 months to study the teams in their group and get his tactics spot on. Hence the demolition of Spain. |
By:
prob another extra time here, think best bet is just to lay holland.
By:
To be fair Spain could have been 2-0 up and coasting if the wee guy hadn't weirdly tried to chip the goalie inside the box just before RVP made it 1-1.
Spain go 2 up they're in the 2nd round imo - such is football. In fact if Spain don't play Casillas and Costa they win every game in the group, again just my opinion. It's no fun playing with only 9 men and 2 liabilities. Are Holland really this good? Personally I doubt it but we shall find out in due course. |
By:
mexico will eat them. croatia are a better side than the dutch and they didnt have a sniff.
By:
The Dutch don't have to adopt the same strategy that the Croats had to employ.
A better side .....? |
By:
deffo the dutch, for me the best side so far......in a double with CR today
By:
think the dutch have been put in very short...the mexicans play like a real unit and as much as i see a very close game i fancy mexico to qualify...mexico have only conceded one goal so far this tourney and the goal they gave away was a touch of class...36 on the outright is also insulting...not sure i'd bet them in the 90 but fancy them to get through...shame these 2 teams had to meet so early tbf
By:
Greece getting through to last 16 was a traversty, negative in every aspect.
By:
croatia a better team than the dutch ffs

I think the value is Mexico. Re the Chile and Croatia games, Chile bossed large parts of that game but were the ones who had to force the game if they wanted to win the group and got hit on the counter. Same in the Croatia game where Mexico had the advantage of it being Croatia who had to force the game so i'm wary of reading too much in to either of those results. Based on the other performances though and the likely conditions I think Mexico at 3/1 are too big.

i dont think its as good a bet as colombia, but ive had 500 on holland to win in 90 minutes and 200 on the draw. the 200 gets me my money back. so its like a draw no bet bet. the trouble holland may have is will mexico attack them enough for the dutch to tear them apart on the break like they have other teams. maybe not. youd expect mexico to play defensively and try to sneak a 1-0. i really dont buy all this love mexico are getting. wouldnt back em at 200/1 to win the cup myself. theyre ok at what they do, but the only way theyre beating any of the top sides is on penalties or a flukey 1-0 win.
not sure holland are a top side, i backed them for the cup pre-tournie cos i thought 42.0 was a decent shot with the players they have. and theyve looked really good so far. but then theyve done this in some previous tournaments, then totally capitulated out of nowhere. think theyll win comfortably, but as its holland you never quite know for sure. id guess 2-0 or 3-1. |

is that memphis dippy lad playing?

Right, I've laid Holland to qualify at 1.54. I'm also doing a dutched lay of all the prominent Dutch players as first goalscorer.

holland will melt in 2nd half imo extra time and penalties imo |
