i'd tend 2 concur with that assertion
i genuinely believe in his own befuddled mind that inasmuch as it was away from where the direct action was at that point in time he thought it may have gone 'unnoticed'
luis,it's the WC ffs just a few ppl watching
but what prompted him 2 do it & why he chose 2 bite again i don't think he could honestly say himself
it's as if he's schizoid 2 a degree & the actual biting must be smth in his psyche maybe going back 2 his childhood or smth as maybe a defensive /retaliatory measure
only he knows & maybe in all truthfullness he doesn't.

The English media has gone wildly over the top here. Is biting a player really worse than breaking a player's leg or breaking a nose or cheekbone with an elbow? I don't think so. Give him a 3 match international ban and a stern warning about future conduct. End of.
Report DonNo1 June 26, 2014 1:44 PM BST
Depends on the nature of the incident.  Injuring someone because you go in a bit recklessly is different to outright trying to hurt someone.  I'd say it's the same as punching someone but considering it's the third time he's done it  deserves more than a 3 game ban

terrific player, but a sandwich short, given the past offences it can't be ignored even though it's country not club, they have to kick him out of the w cup
Report high_lander June 26, 2014 2:09 PM BST
Many players deliberately set out to hurt another player with a reckless challenge, often ending with the injured player missing whole season(s), sometimes career ending. I'm not talking about genuine mistimed challenges. I am talking about deliberate reckless challenges that were intended to harm. And yet these players consistently get away with it without any serious punishment. Some get red carded, some don't. Some receive a ridiculously lenient punishment, some receive no punishment at all while their victims are hobbling about in crutches for several months, or even crippled for the rest of their lives.

I think we need to get some proper perspective on this and the same goes for spitting, pulling hair etc. I would rather be bit, spat on or have my hair pulled all day every day rather than have my leg or nose broken, what person in their right mind wouldn't?

Breaking someone's leg or destroying their knee cap is far far far more serious than spitting or biting. Sometimes our British football culture is very strange indeed, and this is one of those times. Get a grip.
Report elise June 26, 2014 2:13 PM BST
defining whether a tackle is reckless is a decision for a ref because tackles are part of the sport, unless i've missed it you can't have a fair bite or a good or even a hard bite let alone a dangerous bite
Report high_lander June 26, 2014 2:42 PM BST
I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished. I'm just pointing out our hypocrisy. As I said I would rather be bitten than have my leg broken and lose my career. Did anyone ever lose even one game never mind a whole season or their career by by being bit? Biting someone is a bit weird I'll grant you that but lets get some perspective here.
