Lot of sense to that Darlo. Problem is, I can't see how we're suddenly going to become anything other than utterly average.     Italy aren't great either, though.

I don't really understand why we do these friendlies so close. England are always about intensity, if nothing else.    Why not just go out to Brazil a few weeks early and get used to the conditions.

Hoddle bonkers.  Just bringing on Barkley in the second half won't be enough to unlock Italy. It wasn't enough to unlock Honduras today, so why would it be enough to unlock Italy??  (Even given the conditions and their effect on Old Man Pirlo.)

We need more movement across the field. Barkley should start, for me, but it's going to need more than just Barkley. The guy can't work miracles...

Just posted this on Facebook....

The last time I was excited about an England team.........Euro 1996
....and I predict Hodgson will be pleased with it and come out with the usual rubbish about how it was really hot and we needed a run out, and they were a physical team blah, blah, blah, getting boring. Its obvious the players are technically not good enough and its going to be at least another generation (with a different football philosophy, like Spain did after being crap in the 80's) before we are anywhere near good enough.
Report 247lol June 8, 2014 12:43 AM BST
England are so poor its embarrassing the only crumb of comfort is that Italy are not fairing much better themselves at the moment, more you think about it more it makes sense to stick with the South American teams early ie Brazil/Uruguay/Argentina and even Columbia could be good value in group C, I think a Uruguay even without Suarez would stuff that clueless England lot lets face it conditions favour them and they will have plenty of support in their own backyard, either way England will not be going much further if by some act of god they do get past the group because they can barely string 2 passes together.
