Gerrard has been a lot better at taking them lately, he's had plenty of practice this season. I can never understand why anybody would let Rooney take them, he's always looked dodgy to me.

Could be Lampard if we go back to the glory days of a Gerrard & Lampard central midfield, just in case the previous 100 times they played together in the centre weren't evidence enough that it doesn't work.

gerrard, baines and lampard all good pen takers. take your pick, i,d narrowly take gerrard, he knows how to get it into the side netting. lampard might not be on the pitch

In a pressure situation i think Gerrard would be the man you would want taking it. Baines is just as good a penalty taker but for me, the best penalty taker in the squad is Lambert. Always finds the corner with pace on the ball. Im amazed more of Lampards havent been saved over the years as 90% are hit in the same place and its rarely right in the corner.

I'd give them to Lampard. The mesmeric wobble of his gut as he runs up to take the penalty definitely has a hypnotising effect on the goalkeeper, meaning they are unable to save even his tame efforts.

Since he's the spawniest player alive to be even on the plane, you have to hope his luck will hold when and if it came to slotting a penalty. |
