At least that is the plan unless
I lose my nerve!! Newmarket seems
more attractive as it gets nearer.
Any advice on visiting Millwall
appreciated.

Why go to Millwall...?

Sensible option is to go to Newmarket early, find a local hostelry that has Sky Sports, who will no doubt be jumping from match to match as key incidents arise throughout the games.
Given the ko time of 12.15 you can "enjoy" if that is the right word, both events on the same day.

wear a Millwall scarf
Report louie87 April 30, 2014 11:38 PM BST
it's not what it was, take a beer or 2 in the pub nearby and enjoy the day.  Where they put the away fans is pretty miserable though. that being said milwall are woeful so you should get a goal or 2 to celebrate. good luck
Report kenilworth May 1, 2014 10:06 AM BST
Cork, I want to watch the WHOLE game, not just bits, also
I have never been to the ''Den'' so that will be a new
experience.

louie, I am right in heading for 'South Bermondsey' underground
aren't I?
Report dizzydavid1 May 1, 2014 10:20 AM BST
Ken, from South Bermondsey station there's a walkway into the ground for away fans, you'll be fine.

But go tooled up and ready to rumble just in case.

Enjoy the game.

Also Ken, in case you don't know this site it's a good one for those who go to a lot of aways like you do.

yeah ken, sharpen the handles of your zimmer, and if that don't work, you could simply bore your attackers to death
Report Panther65 May 1, 2014 11:06 AM BST
you will be well safe ken...

unless millwall happen to go down, in which case you wont be allowed out of the ground for at least an hour...

but, i cant really see that happening looking at the birmingham and doncaster fixtures
Report jed.davison May 1, 2014 11:50 AM BST
Just take a copy of the Post, and if it looks like you're about to be mugged/stabbed/gang-raped, open it at Pullein's page and ask your would-be attacker what he thinks. You'll have made it to the Elephant and Castle before he's made sense of the first paragraph.
Report Biscuit1979 May 1, 2014 11:55 AM BST
Nowhere near as bad as it used to be as there's now a walk way that goes directly from the away end to the station.

If you drive however you're on your own.

If you relegate them, you'd better be able to run fast.
Report Blackrock May 1, 2014 12:29 PM BST
Best find out the name of the reserve Millwall keeper before you go, just incase someone asks you. An old tactic that, but could save you a kicking.Grin

@ Blackrock,

lol, that brings back some memories Wink

Thanks for the info/advice which will help me
enjoy my visit to ''the Den''. I don't mind what
ever the result turns out, as long as it is a
good game.

Kenilworth...you're welcome. That sites got some interesting pics of old grounds too, some in their heyday and some in various states of abandonment. Anyway, enjoy the game tomorrow and now we're promoted to join you in the Championship you've got a trip to Griffin Park to look forward to next season if the pub on each corner and ancient ramshackle ground experience is your cup of tea.

Just remember, if anyone asks you for the time, just show them your watch and say "na-fink"

Go to Newmarket instead.

You'll have far more fun - you know it.
Report kenilworth May 2, 2014 4:33 PM BST
roger, I'll be at Newmarket on Sunday in all
probability, wifey enjoys the racing there.

If I hear of mass rucks in New Cross, I'll know it was you!

No disrespect kenilworth but your team mob wise dosn't have a reputation so doubt any Millwall fella's will turn out, however the reserve team goalkeeper is a good one Laugh

Quite an experience at ''The Den''!! Never saw so much fencing, everything layed
out to deal with keeping the fans apart.
Got there quite early and found a pub ''the Forresters'' and sat talking football
without mentioning which way my preferred leaning was, no problems at all, B'mouth
didn't really turn up, probably overwhelmed by the atmosphere in the ground, not
a place you take your wife, with such a heavy sprinkling of expletives every time
a Millwall player went to ground, though there was plenty of women in attendance.
Easy to get to, easy to get away from and back home in time to see the big race!
Not sure whether I would go again though, quite intimidating.

Glad you had a good day Kenilworth. Better than going to Newmarket.

As you have had an easy introduction to life at the Den, may i suggest your next visit is when Millwall play West Ham.
That game will keep you on your toes.Laugh

"Not sure whether I would go again though, quite intimidating"

And that was on a day when they won and were happy at staying up. Imagine if you'd sent them down.
Report kenilworth May 4, 2014 10:06 PM BST
They gave B'mouth's rightside midfielder, (Smith) a torrid
time every time he made a tackle, or went to ground and the
player was clearly intimidated by them so much, he was subbed
at half time. I was sat not far behind the dug out in among
the Millwall fans and to be honest, I was sorely tempted to
leave at half time, but chose to go up the steps and stood the
second half behind the wheel chairs pretending to be a carer!!
I left on 86 mins as I thought there would be a pitch invasion,
headed for the station getting well away when the final whistle
went!! Quite an experience.

Proper football.

Funny thing is i went to bournemouth v reading in 1994, when reading could win the league, got their at midday and was not allowed into any pub. ( ID stuff, local stuff), ruined the day for me.

Wont ever like bournemouth after that, its reading ffs, not millwall. I used to go the academy nightclub every other weekend in the 90's.

you can blame Leeds for that IS

biscuit, when I rang on Thursday I was assured there would be no problem
getting one ticket, but when I presented myself on Saturday morning I was
told it was sold out home and away. I asked for the supervisor and managed
to impress on her and she came up with a ticket among season ticket holders,
I didn't question it, although I was surprised to see where I was when I got
into the seat. Beggars cant be chosers etc, etc.
