Kevin Phillips has decided to retire, most probably due to being told he is not in the playing plans for Leicester next year. He will remain on the coaching staff.
A wonderful player, top finisher and an example to all the youngsters of how a pro footballer should conduct himself in order to maintain a long playing career.

Excellent one touch finisher and probably the best player i've seen in my time following Sunderland.
Remember when we bought him Tenpins....we were strongly linked with David Connolly ( first of various times )at Watford and the fans were clamouring to sign him.....when we signed Phillips the fans were serious underwhelmed as few people knew him but Charles Harrison at Metro radio said don't worry they've got the right man.......was he ever  |

Started career at Baldock Town.
Was originally a left back but his then manager Ian Allinson, took a chance and started playing him up front. |

Good luck to KP, will always be remembered for having the belief to grab the ball and bury the penalty for the Play Off Final against Watford to win us promotion.

I don't think he's ever really had credit for his all round game. People just think poacher because he's got no pace but technically he is very good indeed. Hope he goes coaching rather than punditry

Best player I've seen in a Red & White shirt.
Unfortunate I'm some respect to be in his pomp in the same era as Shearer, Sheringham, Cole, Wright, Ferdinand, Fowler etc. He'd be on the plane this year, in amongst a much weaker set of forwards than those listed above. |

As posted above, the only Englishman to ever win the Golden Boot. Some achievement.
Great career for someone that was still playing non-league football at 20 year old, he is a perfect example for any young kids out there. Enjoy your retirement Super Kev. |
