Can anybody recall this thread?
I vaguely recall it. From what i remember it involved the laying of the first goalscorer in the league cup final.

Somebody advised the people of the money saving expert to lay every "runner" for guaranteed "free money"

what happened next was pure carnage :)

if somebody could re-up the thread that would be awesome

Great stuff. The slow, sinking realisation that guaranteed profit crumbles before their very eyes is something to behold. I love the way they use Thierry Henry as an example that if he doesn't start the match they could face serious liabilities. Adequately summed up by one poster on hearing the team news:

Arsenal (from): Almunia, Poom, Hoyte, Senderos, Toure, Djourou, Clichy, Traore, Walcott, Diaby, Flamini, Fabregas, Denilson, Aliadiere, Adebayor, Baptista, Hleb, Rosicky, Randall, Connolly.

Sh*t

My favourite desperate post was "There's talk of the kick off being delayed. Maybe we can get out of it"

"I've got £3000 profit now

no exposure, as its profit regardless.

I just keep dutching over and over, for 40-50 quid each time."

Priceless

"oh dear so this potentially means your liability could be greater than your betfair balance?"

Blimey....first time I've seen this!  A good example of how a concoction of inexperience, laziness, greed & a betting exchange can end in tears.

A worthwhile read to all newcomers although I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a guilty chuckle at "i am haveign palpatations here" (surely misspelt due to the furious intensity in which the keyboard was being mashed!) and "Can we get on the blower to Betfair and cancel any bets?"

There was an accompanying thread on betfair tobes, people were absolutely gleeful about being able to back the starting strikers at massive prices. Market was completely overbroke. The fred on here got deleted though, think that is gone for ever.

Walcott started for Arsenal, scored the first goal and was matched at 30s+. Laugh

Read the thread a couple of years ago. Didn't a lot of them get away with it?

i topped the original bf thread yesterday.[carnage on the first goalscorer market] it was a great afternoon betting into a market that layers who didn't know what they were doing maintained it at well overbroke.

i was told that bf just wrote off a lot of peoples losses, as i imagine anyone signing up on that day and betting in that manner would have gone into a negative balance immediatly the non runners were taken out of the market.and i dont suppose they wanted to chase them.
Report ash cpfc March 22, 2014 11:16 AM GMT
err.. theres no money exposed on this market. So I lose not a single penny.
Doesn't really matter if a player doesn't play.. because you only need another to score, and I got 3.5k profit on no goal scorer too... fully greened up.. no exposure. locked in profit regardless what happens.

Crazy
