a bit unfair on Lescott as he is a solid defender, has pace, strength, good in the air and good positional play. His problem is his distribution

Demichelis used to be a defensive midfielder - he's OK on the ball but cannot defend. No pace, no strength, gets turned easily, poor in the air and poor positional play.

He converted to defender when he was at Bayern Munch and it's no coincidence that they leaked like a sieve when he was there.

Demichellis did not used to be a defensive midfielder. He has always been a centre back and during his time at Bayern he was tested as a defensive midfielder by the new manager/coach. It was then apparent that he was awful and moved back into the defense.
