Mourhino was right.....

Liverpool dont play in Europe, they have less games, don't travel and dont have to mess about on planes.  They have more time to recharge their batteries than the likes of Man U and Spurs who are constantly chasing for 4th AND in European competitions.

All hypothetical - Liverpool have a rare advantage this season, that's true but still have to do the business with a team that have never been in a possible title winning position. I think they may fall just short but if they do win it, they will deserve it given the brand of football they are playing.

Has it not occurred to you that Mourinho & Wenger are just making an excuse in advance in case they finish below Liverpool ?

Why is neither of them saying that City have it tougher than both Arsenal/Chelsea because they had 3 extra games in the League Cup + FA Cup replay ?

Because they make excuses for themselves , not their rivals .

The fact that we're above Spurs is down to the fact we have a better manager, better players, & play the better football. 'Not' playing in a cup competition is a pretty feeble excuse/reason for us doing so well this season. But carry on anyway.

They have taken advantage of being a poor team and not qualifying for Europe and that has taken them so far ,it will not be enough for them to win a premier league though and it would be rather hollow if they were to sneak it in that manner.

Those home games against Chelsea and City will be their undoing they will not handle the pressure despite their easy schedule.

We've kept 2 clean sheets & scored 6 goals in our last 2 away games at 2 very difficult grounds. For all we know Rodgers might have sorted out our defensive woes. We haven't been as cavalier in those 2 matches, but we've looked far more compact, & yet still posed a dangerous attacking threat.

They have had injuries though. Agger and Flanagan aren't (or at least weren't) first choice defenders.

Football is about scoring goals. Doesn't matter if the defence isn't great and concedes a goal every game if the attack scores 2 or 3.

Saying Liverpool won't win the league because the defence isn't great is no more worthy a point than saying Chelsea won't win the league because they don't score many. What's the difference between Chelsea winning a game 1-0 or Liverpool winning a game 2-1 or 3-2?

Footballers run what 6-7 miles a game at a push (usually around 9-10km on opta) and even if you double that for the, ahem, physicality of the game (i.e a game takes more out than just running that distance) which is being generous, then at a push footballers are running 30-40 miles a week at match level. FFS if a prof sportsman can't do that withjout being knackered then they need to train harder - maybe getting paid (10's, 100's of) thousands a week should mean they should have to train in the afternoons!!

i think all would agree that liverpools squad is much weaker than city or chelseas or even arsenals (who seem prone to bad injuries season after season!), would usually say utd but of course this is clearly not the case at present!

surely this freshness angle is only part of it, we have been at a disadvantage with the squad depth over these rivals.

the reason liverpool have done well is because they score a shed load of goals and have the 2 best scorers in the league, other 'fresh' sides are nowhere near this.
Report LordBobbin March 23, 2014 4:32 PM GMT
The Liverpool players have hunger and unity. Add a superb strike-duo, and you've got the makings of a championship winning side.

They've had an advantage through their easier fixtures list, but then, they've had the easier fixtures list for a reason. Chelsea and City have bigger and more properly tested squads, which is why they qualified for the CL last year, while Liverpool didn't.

The various advantages and disadvantages ought to sort themselves out. Liverpool will presumably strengthen and extend their squad over the summer, and then they'll be able to handle the greater demands of having European football to fit in.
