doesnt look like Moyes tactics or training is appealing to players.

Combination

New training regime, new coaches
Change in style of play which some players are not comfortable with
Had problems with injuries
Some of the tactics (like today with a tired rigid 4-4-2 with rooney dropping back into midfield)
Moyes doesnt seem to be able to man motivate these players
Moyes seems to have fell out with certain players, vidic, kagawa and they dont like him which means they wont give 100%
Dreadful signing of Fellaini for 30mil
Buying Mata and then playing him wide in a 4-4-2
Seems moyes is stubburn for his formation and then trying to get players to fit into it. WHen he should be playing to players strengths.

Lack of effort

If they score at Old Trafford, Man Utd need 4.
Report maas February 25, 2014 10:03 PM GMT
Yeah Olympiacos just go there looking for an away goal.

If RVP had scored put that shot away then all they'd need is a 1-0 to go through. Amazing what 1 away goal meant

Moyes of course.
Man Utd do great for over 20 years then as the reigns are handed over to Moyes they flop.

United haven't got passed the last 16 stage for 3 years now so although they won the league last year the cracks have been showing - infact they've struggled to get out of very easy groups

Too many players past their best - Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, as for Smalling, do me a favour

RVP missing chances that he was burying last season - a lot of mediocre performances last season had RVP's brilliance papering over the cracks - he seemed to score 3 in every 4 chances in the 1st half of last season whereas his chance 5 minutes from the end tonight summed up his season

Both, but this strange idea that Moyes "will be given time" is remarkably naive.
Report themightymac February 25, 2014 10:08 PM GMT
Moyes is out of his depth. Tactically inept. Lucky they weren`t playing a good team.
Report BARROWBOY February 25, 2014 10:11 PM GMT
they won the title last season ffs,so there cant have been a lot wrong, what was wrong with keeping the same backroom team & giving phelan the job.

If Moyes was a racehorse, he would be a decent handicapper but out of his depth in Group races.

there was plenty wrong, that's why Fergie jacked it in

Any decent team they played last year outclassed them - Chelsea beat them 3 times, and only beat Chelsea thanks to an offside goal when Chelsea were down to 9 men. City took the pi$$ at Old Trafford like they had done the year before. Even my team battered them on the opening day of last season 3 or 4 nil wouldn't have flattered us

What was evident tonight was after that abysmal 1st half, where it was obvious that tactically it was not working and they were being overrun in midfield and on the counter attack.

Any manager worth his salt would have realised this and changed it around at half time. But no, they came out and started the 2nd half EXACTLY the same way. No substitution, no tactical change. Moyes just standing on byline like a lost rabbit praying that it would change.

He then hit the panic button once they went 2-0 down and was lucky to still be in the tie.

If fergie had gone in at half time, he would have changed it around.

The buck starts & stops with Moyes.  He's the boss and he picks the team.

Just seen interview on itv, kinda feel sorry for moyes, i mean he is tactically inept but the players arent gving ther all imo

When one or two players have bad games, that is their fault.

When the whole team plays bad...
Report songsforthedeaf February 25, 2014 11:35 PM GMT
I really don't get what has happened to Moyes. Everton were a well organised side under him...you would at least hope they are organised defensively. Their whole performance was shambolic!
Report kenvil February 25, 2014 11:46 PM GMT
i think its down to players mainly, what do they care ? they are all going to get paid at the end of the week, whether they win or not.

Rooney has shown no loyalty with the transfer requests etc over the last couple of years, hes only after a pay day
Vidic leaves at the end of season
rio will leave at the end of the season, probably go to the states for Beckham
Everyone knows moyes has tried to sign a left back in the summer, so evra knows his days are numbered, i wouldnt want to play for a manager who tried to sign a replacement

So 3 of the back 4, will leave by August and dont care about results.

Could say the same about some of the midfield, even though i do think cleverly is an appalling player, at least he tries and is playing for his future, similar to henderson a liverpool, never going to be a world beater, but you need an engine.
