Loakes Park also has a hospital on it. A lot of Wycombe's old adversaries grounds are now used for other means like Tooting and Mitcham, Enfield and Leytonstone.

I loved loakes park.

Still got my farewell fame programme.

South Terrace - Roots Hall (Southend Utd) flats since the 90's and eventually whole stadium to be a Sainsburys

I was at Roots Hall in 1979 for an FA Cup tie against Liverpool. The game was postponed on the Saturday due to snow, and I travelled down for the game on a Monday (by train). Horrendous journey, game ended 0-0 and Southend hit the bar in the last minute. The Tannoy remains the loudest I have ever heard at a football ground.

I was at that game efisio..as a Southend supporter i was gutted when our centre forward Paul Parker was through with just Clemence to beat and he fluffed it..i can close my eyes and still see the twot thumping the snow with his fist.Record crowd for the Blues that night (29000). Think we lost the replay 5-0...halcyon days

I reckon there's 34-36 clubs of the current 92 who have changed grounds in the last 30 years, some more than once.

Brighton - Goldstone, Priestfield, Withdean, AMEX.

Charlton - Valley, Selhurst, Upton Park.

Coventry - Highfield Rd, Ricoh, Sixfields

Not sure you count Bournemouth, who movde their stadium 180 degree's. I don't count it as two different grounds visited.

As for the flats at Roots Hall, they were above the old away end (away fans now at the opposite end), but I'm sure they couldn't see the whole of the pitch.


Orient, a club Southend have a little bit of recent history with, have built flats in the corners of Brisbane Road, or whatever it's called now.

Half the residents don't even bother watching, though I'm sure I saw a TV feature showing Russell Slade, and a player living in them(separately).

Be interesting to know what's happened to all the other ones. I know Hudds, Rotherham, Stoke, and Arsenal built close to their old ones, and Stoke's Victoria Ground was flattened and was basically a car park for the new one last time I visited (a long time ago)

The likes of new grounds at Col U, Shrewsbury and Bolton didn't seem easily accessible.

Leeds Road, Huddersfield, is about a stone's throw from the GayFarm. It's now a car park and retail park.

Only been to Hull twice, once each to both grounds.

Boothferry was in 1984 for the very first Associate Members Cup Final (North), now the JPT.

Despite leading 1-0, we lost 4-1.

My only visit to the KC was when we was both chasing promotion in 2004/05.

We ended up using 3 goalkeepers that day, as Stuart Elliot injured both our first choice and substitute keeper.
We was actually very competitive that day until we ran out of goalkeepers, and ended up losing 6-1.

So two visits to Hull and an aggregate of 2-10.

Not my favourite city.

Kingsway; Bishop Auckland - the greatest amateur cup team - a nursing home now occupies the hallowed turf

The Bishop's & other great Northern league sides at the time.The Southerners couldn't beat them in the Amatuer cup so they changed the rules whereby you had to live withing a certain distance of where you were playing for.Absolutely ruined Northern Amateur football as well as ruining the Amateur cup.A radius of lets say 20mls in London,how many players can you get out of there,whereas the same in the North just a fraction of the number?A stupid rule that eliminated the great rivalry between the Northern Teams & the Southern teams overnight.Gone was the excitement of the Amateur cup & a FULL Wembley for an amateur match.

To be fair, the FA Vase has been dominated in recent years by clubs from the North East.

You're probably right in what you say but stupid officaldom ruined what was one of the best competions England had.The Vase will never replace the glamour of the Amateur cup.
