Man City v Chelsea 8.00pm SkySports
Arguably the best 2 sides in the league face off this Monday evening, and a cracking game is in store, or is it? This season away to (at the time) other title challengers Chelsea set up shop, played 19th century football, and drew 0-0 away to Man Utd and 0-0 away to Arsenal. I expect Chelsea to do the same again, and try for a smash and grab. This Man City team have scored goals for fun though this season, even against the better teams in the league, 6-3 v Arsenal, 4-1 v Man Utd, 3-1 v Everton, 6-0 & 5-1 v Tottenham. Man City have won 11 from 11 at home, and they are in great goal scoring form at the moment.

Chelsea won the reverse fixture 2-1 earlier this season, but that was when Man City were still finding their feet, and their away form at the time was scratchy. I fancy Man City strongly for this game; they are a level above anyone else in the league. I cannot see Chelsea’s defensive tactics being enough to stop them scoring, and once they have one, it’ll bring Chelsea out of their shell, and City could easily pick them off.

Advice: 3pts Man City @ 20/23 (1.85) - SeanieMac

To me it's a cynical challenge knowing that he's stopping a goalscoring opportunity. Straight red card. And yet we still have to put up with bookings for taking your shirt off, etc, etc.

now show a picture of how much closer Kolarov is at the point Oscar is pulled down

Oscar has to turn his man, control the all then run 50 yards with it and you don't think Kolarov would catch him?
Report kellydamo February 3, 2014 10:05 PM GMT
they will show it on sky in a minute then watch, he was 15 yards away exactly as I recall it when it happened
Report Darlo Bantam February 3, 2014 10:06 PM GMT
For me though, it's not all that important whether it was a red card. Chelsea won anyway. Arguing over a red card takes away from Mourinho and Chelsea totally outclassing Manchester City, certainly for large parts of the match.
Report tobermory February 3, 2014 10:07 PM GMT
He is closer when the foul is made and much closer once Oscar has been held , but if the defender tries to tackle he could just put Hazard clear

Would have been important Darlo because they would be down to 10 and would still have to go **** or bust and more likely to concede on the counter
Report Darlo Bantam February 3, 2014 10:08 PM GMT
It's not important now though. And only had a slight impact on the final minute or so. All this ridiculous debating - week in, week out - of officials' decisions takes away from the real reasons why teams win or lose.
Report nicky27 February 3, 2014 10:09 PM GMT
any possession is a 'goal scoring opportunity' if you think about it ... i havent seen it properly yet , but looks like the' last defender ' rule should have been applied , but its totally ambiguous and open to many different interpretations, thats what makes the game so great

But very clear Dean didnt bother because it is a high profile game, none of them do now.  If he gives the yellow it has to be a red

Report Darlo Bantam February 3, 2014 10:10 PM GMT
Exactly Nicky. There's no point berating Mike Dean for a decision when he gets one view, when people on here can't decide whether it was a red card or not having seen it multiple times.

although i want to agree with those who say that was a red card, because to my mind it was for incidents like that the law was introduced, rather than when a goalie brushes an attacker in a genuine attempt for the ball.

could you imagine the furore that would have ensued had he red carded him?

i have always taken the view that players who deliberatly go to operate outside the laws of the game warrant no place on the pitch.

an outdated view i know, but i reckon that after a few weeks carnage the players might pay a bit more attention to the laws of the game.
