You've got a manager who has never won a trophy, a dodgy goalkeeper, a clapped out "Rolls Royce of a defender" in Rio, an ageing left back who can barely make it to the half way line, Ryan "we must get him to 1000 games" Giggs, Tom "never a footballer" Cleverly, an injury prone 31 year old 30 million pound player and Wayne "how many transfer requests do I have to hand in" Rooney leading the line.

If United fail to qualify for the Champions League, not only will their best players leave but they'll be unable to attract any quality ones, unless united sack Moyes and soon, I foresee a relegation scrap this time next season and with the club still heavily in debt, sponsors dropping out and lack of CL money drying up, they might even have to flog Januzaj to pay the tea lady, you're never too big too go down.

Moyes goes soon or this decline will be terminal, not about kicking a man when he's down, he's just never a top manager in a month of Sundays.

United running out of money would be the worst thing that could happen to other clubs in the premier league, they would be bought straight away by the sultan of Brunei or the shah of Iran or some other rich benefactor
Report Whisperingdeath January 20, 2014 8:55 AM GMT
I hope the plastics don't switch to Chelski,  driving is better in Surrey when they all go to Madchester!

United's decline is inevitable.  The Magician has gone but his final trick was a last hurrah for himself.  The signing of RVP was genius but selfish, won the title but lost the war.  Left an empty shell with the two best players divvying up the 25 million Sponsors money between them as wages!

Why do people blame Moyes?  The person to blame for the current situation is without doubt Ferguson, he was the Wizzard and Magician. Ego took over and the club was not placed first.  In my view Keane is right about him in some instances, Loyalty?  Not to Manchester or Glazers.

Why would the world's best players want to go to the second best team in Manchester?

What happens to United now is very interesting.  Even with their commercial might they cannot compete with Oil.

I am sure the Glazers could cope for a season without Champions League Football but they are in an ever decreasing circle in that they will be vunerable to losing their best players and not attracting the top talent available.  Then it is a case of hardball.  Someone will buy United for between 2 and 3 billion but if the Glazers struggle financially a game of poker ensues.

The Glazers have played a blinder up till now financially. Using United's own  money to the club was genius.

Moyes is not the problem but alas not the solution either.

will not collapse like a bank. Will always be marketable and the Glazers will sell long before it goes tits up and the only person who can afford to buy will be a billionaire, probably someone with bottomless pockets like an Oil Sheikh. They are still a far more attractive buy than City are or were

It's sad because it will harm our co-efficiency in Europe, they consistently get to the knockout stages, we could risk losing a spot like Serie A did to the Bundesliga if we have a replacement in the likes of T*ttenham  or Everton who would take some time in building up enough strength in depth to compete in Europe and get of the groups.

I think an element of their decline is that for some referees it is payback time -- i.e.refs who were given a hard afternoon at OT by Ferguson in the past.I mean,THREE penalties against United -- unheard of previously.

Relegation scrap is going too far mesmerised, but I agree that United have some very lean years ahead of them. I doubt they can match City and Chelsea for the foreseeable future. Their only chance is to appoint a proven top class manager and give him a lot of money to spend. I don't think Moyes is the man for the job. I think he's too negative, he's not a big club manager, looks out of his depth. Also, he's unknown in Europe and the rest of the world. It will be difficult to get big name players to sign for him.
Report mesmerised May 10, 2014 8:26 PM BST
Well done United, cut throat but correct decision, never up to the job.
Report 021257 May 11, 2014 11:35 AM BST
Of course it's all Moyes fault after all he is playing as well as managing isn't he?
Oh sorry he's just the manager not one of the £100,00o plus a week players who are playing well below there pay scale, but it's not there fault.
