How can a group of death contain England?

Group of death is such a bulls**t phrase anyway. Same amount of teams go through from any group.

If you go by the FIFA rankings it is the second toughest group on paper. Having said that FIFA rankings are not renowned for their accuracy.

What's happened is that for the first time in history, England haven't got a p1ss weak group, and the pundits, media, fans are all terrified and getting their excuses in early. It's a tough group, but a million miles from a group of death

I think this could have been much harder, definitely not a "group of death".  We could have got Brazil/Spain/Germany instead of Uruguay and Cameroon/USA instead of Costa Rica.  We could easily win this group by drawing with Italy and beating the other two.  Uruguay are not as good as they were in 2010.

if england were in with Hartlepool it would be a group of death.lol.

It doesn't matter what group we are in - we will still be abject and back home before the knockout stages

anything can happen in cup competitions,but it never happens for england.

Draw with Italy realistic (both will take a draw, esp in conditions).
You ain't beating Uruguay (a draw would be some achievement)
so it's all down to beating Costa Rica and relying on other results.

Manaus is 4 hours different and Sao Paulo is 2 hours apparently.

yorker, I wasn't trying to p1ss take. I read a little about the times differences and they seem to have 2 hour changes as opposed to one in most parts of the world. In June e.g, the difference with BST is I think 5 hours. (Manaus) Bizarre.

Those 1982 groups were 2nd stage.  We had already qualified from a group with France, Czech and an African side (Egypt I think).

Unless Mourinho or Guardiola take over then England will be out before knockout stages.

Yes 1982 2nd stage was different to now,England  went out unbeaten,never even lost on penalties to anyone,Kuwait was the team from the first stage.

Yeah but only because the draw in 1982 was **** to somehow decide England deserved to be a seeded team.
