Not an excuse, we were rubbish tonight, not going to judge how good we are on one friendly result though, just like we all knew we weren't better than Spain when we beat them in a friendly
Report gotitwrong- November 15, 2013 10:02 PM GMT
its not the result that counts , its all about seeing how the fringe players adapt to international football

couple contributions from 5live:

woy: "we didn't deserve to lose more than 1-0"

rob green (I think): "it's a great day to have an off day"

I think tonight probably just goes to confirm what we all knew - the first XI is ok (if a bit workmanlike by international standards) and will at least give most teams a bit of game but the depth of English talent is very shallow right now and will be for at least another 5-10 years even if the elite player development (whatever its called) works 100%.

If everyone is fit in the summer, we might make the quarters with a favourable draw. A couple of key injuries or get drawn in the 'group of death' and we'll be home before the knock out stages. I don't think anyone expects any more than that really.

On the plus side however...........we are not France!!
