Colossus Bets guy done the Coral £1million bet. Needs Watford or the draw for £1million win. He tried to contact Coral today to ask if they wanted to buy the bet back but they didn't respond.

Now he's in line for a £1million payout.

Watford have perfectly good second disallowed then Brighton immediately equalise. Then Brighton are very lucky not to have a man sent off when the full back who's already been booked carved someone down on the edge of the box. He needs Watford or the draw, and Watford clearly the better team....I think we all know what's going to happen here don't we? Laugh

Well my thinking was if you're backing all 3 outcomes in the same game you might as well not include it but i was forgetting you have to pick 15 games. Obviously they've found a way to beat the system and cover everything but it makes me wonder how much they've lost in previous weeks though.

Corals were offering the first single winner of the 15-fold a Million (consolations have been being offered for 13 and 14 correct)

this was a pretty attractive balloon for Colossus to prick, by all accounts they've failed to attract their main target of the 100,000+ players of the Sky Sports Super 6 (their jackpot is for predicting correct scores, not money lines)

their product is still super **** mind. Still got something to keep the fire going when they've got only 1000 people playing their main pool every week

Here's my RAF Code which gets you 3 free goes at the £10,000,000 main pool. RAFMRR4NW7

Before anyone kicks off: Colossus Bets offers a ground-breaking Refer a Friend (RAF) scheme that gives you a cash-back of 5% of amounts bet by your friends and 2% of both amounts they cash-in and amounts they win, for a period of 12 months from the date of their registration with Colossus Bets.

I think its great. Only Arsenal let me down (drew at West Brom) for the consolation pool of the Colossus a couple of weeks ago. Twice I've got two scorelines spot on on a pick-3 but got one wrong. I also got let down by Porto (lost to Zenit) on the Champions League HDA6 last week when all my other results were right.

It isn't a fixed odds bet, its a pool bet, and the pool wouldn't have been £1million but that's what they are paying out, so they don't take 30% of this one.

Don't think they won it all yesterday - was massive hedging/backing of Brighton to win pre-kick off which compressed their price right down.

They took a win, but lost some of the green I reckon.
Report siralex October 29, 2013 10:13 AM GMT
Henok - it's a mugs bet, a bit like the football equivalent of the lottery.

Corals pick 15 games each weekend and you have to predict the results, I.e home win, away win or draw. U can cover more than 1 possibility on each game if u wish but obviously instead of £1 the cost goes up. Bit like the big hitters on the scoop 6. It would cost £14 million to cover all outcomes.
If u see the idiots on corals twitters feed u would understand why it is a mugs bet. A load of them thought u could guarantee winning the million by picking all the possible outcomes. seriously.

It is a pool bet. Coral take 30% of every bet. If u get 13 or 14 right u get a consolation prize. This is 10 or 20% of the pool I believe.
The winner last night staked 34995 lines to cover the correct 15 outcomes. This meant it was basically a £35000 bet on a 28/1 shot. Try putting that on a horse and seeing how much u get on with them.
Report viva el presidente! October 29, 2013 1:22 PM GMT

..unless they fck up and put too many favourites that are too short in, in which case it can become a value bet. which I'm assuming is what happened here, or colossus wouldn't have got involved.

Report siralex October 29, 2013 1:58 PM GMT

yeah, silverback - it's really a weird inversion of the usual story, actually.

normally, some small time guesser strikes it lucky on a mug bet, and the firm publicise it for all it's worth as advertising. in this case a very shrewd individual pro has a large winning value bet, then publicises it as if they were a firm, as advertising for the competing firm they part own.

of course, the value was dependent on no one else doing the same calculations they did and acting on the discrepancy between the implied odds of the perm and the real world chance of their selections.
Report the silverback October 29, 2013 7:08 PM GMT
The price moves in Asia in the couple of hours pre-off were certainly indicative of two different parties backing differing teams in very large size. Swung almost 20 points one way and then even further back the other. Don't think there was any key team news which would have caused it.
