Unfortunately the old "classic" betfair livescore that you could still get has finally also gone this week.
Once again the scourge of Betfair's world beatingly bad "user interface team" triumphs with a monchrome disaster over a superior more pleasant and more user friendly design. What they have is much harder to quickly scan and pick out matches and see what's up, and that's the point of the bloody thing. Has anyone explained to them the concept of colour in making things more quickly identifiable to the human eye? Clue : that's why sports teams wear different coloured strips.
Still, it's got twitter and facebook links on it, so it must be better. And they've at least ditched all the advertising match preview rubbish they cluttered it with for a while. But it has still been skinned into being "a lot more ****".

I just can't get over how crap the betfair livescore is. It's not that I hate anything "new". When you look at their competitors (and if BF have any sense at all, they should have) you can see MUCH better livescore systems. Well thought out well laid out, just better. With betfair now it's always the same old story. No thinking of putting themselves in the user position and thinking about what they are trying to achieve, and what appears to be active contempt for good use of screen space and instead a desire to waste it as much as possible to make sure the user even on large monitors has to constantly scroll all the time, to great user frustration. *sigh*.

They should stick that on their gravestone And I can't stress this bit enough " It's not that I hate anything "new". I hate things that are worse or rubbish. I'm look at a screeen thats got masses of screen wasted left and right, when I know they could easily make that useful to us, they can't be bothered. And the bit that's actually used, it's got masses of vertical screen space wasted, as usual. In turn, it's basically monchrome, so despite fact 99.9% of their users will be viewing in colour, they've made no attempt to use this ability to clarify what's going on. And the fonts are kind of grey on white, and a very thin one at that. So it's hard to read. It's *%£%^ing PITA to scan down and find the matches you are interested in.
I shouldn't be having to explain why it's crap, it's obvious. I'm looking at a competitors screen right now, it's got none of the above problems and is a joy to look at.

"If something works dont touch it" Someone should tattoo that with fire on the chest of all the IT Managers that think they know better.... the old livescore was brilliant...I work in IT and I see this happening a lot...Something works and someone thinks they can improve things...the result in 90% of the cases is sh1te

me neither. BF actually used to come up with some decent new stuff. firefox extras, and the watch list*, letting users post pictures in the forum**, more football markets going IP*** - all good ideas someone had and implemented.
but for the last couple of years, wow. the misses keep comin'.
*discontinued **closed to new members and dying a slow death ***currently being auto-sabotaged by the sportsbook

"BF actually used to come up with some decent new stuff." Indeed. When I look at some of the stuff they've done it's very impressive, and deserves respect. They've plainly had some very good guys with them. But I can only think they've either left or are now "promoted" and shuffling paperwork instead of making sure new stuff that isn't sh*t. Last while it seems all downhill.
Not sure I'd put posting pictures on the forum as somethng I ever cared about, the new forum was the first real sign that things were on the "turn" :)

I though that for a while, but I have to admit I've seen some that have made me cry with laughter. that alex "time for a forum namechange" one alone justified the whole thing.

my theory with this is that the previous scoreboard was not an in house product and they had to pay for it. They have designed their own to save money and it is a disaster. Otherwise I don't get it!

Jeyton, sorry you are wrong. Yes they have a 3rd party who supplies the raw data, but what they DO with it is entirely up to them. They have a 1st party, the current BF UI team, who really have no idea, truly no idea, who shape into what you see. That bunch are by any objective analysis clueless. The same cluelesss patterns are always played out on the website now :( It's like the site is no governed by a child like idiot who used to do designs for Ikea catalogues and doesn't undestand the difference beteween that and an interactive user interface. No idea at all.

it comes from sportradar, the same company that provide the info for bet£3.65 and loads of other books.
whether BF have skinned it themselves or bought a readymade "solution", the way it's presented is still ultimately their call.

Ok I take back the "child like" bit, that was a bit harsh, posted in a bad mood. But the rest is fair. Viva is correct. I can see RIVALS of betfair who also use betradar, who have good livescore systems, that aren't "betfair 2013-ish" in their design.
