A couple of my Colombian friends are at this. They have been following Nacional around since the game against Inti Gas in Peru.
They fund it by selling sweets on the street and sleeping at bus terminals...crazy! |
By:
And that Inti Gas game was months ago...they have not been back to Colombia since.
By:
the Bahia coach basically said he would be rotating and concentrating on the league
By:
So where do they get the sweets from? Surely they haven't been carrying tons of the stuff around all that time...
By:
Nah, they buy them in a shop and sell them on the street to passersby for a higher price.
By:
They played in Peru on the 30th July!! And they've not been home since? they're missing loads of games!
By:
Game underway. I missed the second round of games in the Europa League tonight (fortunately!), so I'm going to punish myself by watching this for a while...
By:
Yeah i told them it was stupid.Nacional are flying in the league aswell.
I was with them for the last game in Asuncion FREEZING cold and they were sleeping in the bus terminal... |

very lively game. got to be a goal fest
By:
Not a bad game, this. Atlético Nacional look interested in scoring, which is always good to see.
How does the Copa Sudamericana compare to 'our' tournaments? Is this their Europa League, so to speak? |
By:
yes, 2nd biggest tournament. Libertadores is the equivalent of the CL. Sudamerica equivalent of the EL.
By:
Yeah, Argentines and Brazilians are not too bothered about it but the Colombians and other take it very seriously...
By:
Teams are level on aggregate at moment.
By:
Atlético Nacional are doing very well in the Colombian league (10 points clear after 15 of 34 rounds), Bahia/BA are struggling in the Brazilian Série A. It's always difficult to compare leagues from different nations, but you'd fancy the visitors to get on the scoresheet. At the very least they should be full of confidence. So far it certainly doesn't look like Unders...
By:
Nacional aren't playing any of their 3 top scorers, Angel, Uribe or Pajoy. Are we sure they're taking it seriously?
By:
although they're definitely the better side so far
By:
Do we know if they're on the bench? Maybe their coach figured they'd hold out for a while and use them later on when Bahia go for broke?
I don't know anything about this team, but it would seem silly to give it away after winning the first leg. (I'd understand it if they were not particularly bothered about the return leg if they had lost the first.) |
By:
they need one more goal in this soon or it gonna end 1-0
By:
uribe is on bench, he was listed as starting before ko but was replaced by duque

Early football manager players will recognize the legend that is Sherman Cardenas playing for Atletico Nacional. A former wonderkid !

nearly 2 for Bahia
By:
Could just be rotating the squad, they play so many games.
Since the 3rd October Nacional played thurs, sat, weds, thurs, mon, thurs, sat, tonight. 8 games in 3 weeks! Busy!! |
By:
Angel didn't travel not sure wht
By the way apparently Bahia are playing their second string... http://www.goal.com/es-co/match/123935/bahia-vs-atl%C3%A9tico-nacional/preview?ICID=OP It says "fighting against relegation to the second division, the home team have decided to not play their regular team" About Nacional..."Osorio, the Nacional trainer doesn't want to run a risk so he will have all his players available. |
By:
"Apurados por el descenso en el Brasileirao, Bahía tomó la decisión de enfrentar el partido de vuelta ante Atlético Nacional con suplentes."
Pressured by relegation, Bahia took the decision to face the return leg against Nacional with reserves... |
By:
HT 1 - 0
Plenty of half-chances. A bit more composure when it comes to playing the final ball and we might get another goal or two here. Shame they don't have a "To Qualify" market, this being the return leg. I could see myself laying the home team in that market. |
By:
By the way IF Nacional get through they plan to stay in Brazil until the game against Sao Paulo which means they would use their B team this weekend against Boyaca Chico.
Just one to watch out for at the weekend... http://www.elespectador.com/deportes/futbolinternacional/atletico-nacional-podria-quedarse-brasil-una-semana-mas-articulo-454148 |

Uribe is on for Duque...

Thanks. Despite not being interested in this tournament, the Brazilian and Argentinian teams are certainly bossing it. Two more Colombian teams would make a nice addition. C'mon, Nacional!
