Spain Argentina Germany Belgium---in that order-- but rooting for ENGLAND
Report mikenz October 16, 2013 8:43 AM BST
england are all hype but yea good luck to them but they just seem to strike the germans who seem to send them on their way.
Report million1 October 16, 2013 9:18 AM BST
one thing for sure it will be a FANTASTIC world cup---BEST EVER---and i am so happy ENGLAND will be a part of it Laugh

Brazil or Colombia for me.

Switzerland, USA, Japan and Chile as outsiders to reach at least the quarters (and a possibility of a semi)
Report Clarky9 October 16, 2013 9:50 AM BST
Brazil will probably win it, though I think they're a very average Brazilian generation. Live outsiders Japan, Uruguay & Mexico
Report jeyton October 16, 2013 10:17 AM BST
winner= me.... I will lay England with every penny I have Wink
Report Tibs October 16, 2013 10:27 AM BST
Brazil in Brazil should do well, although as above, it's a pretty average Brazil side. Spain have the class and for many of them it will be their Swansong. Outsiders to do well, I'll go with Belgium, some pretty good youngsters like Lukaku.
Report jon b October 16, 2013 11:37 AM BST
Belgium are def a team from outside the big 4/5 id be having a small play on  ,not interested in punting any at short prices/big teams ,,we need a world cup winning outsider ,,oops thats brings England into the equation

Even that John Terry has retired from international duty...he will be there or thereabouts at the final
Report RamonSanchezPizjuan October 16, 2013 5:58 PM BST
Colombia, Chile and Japan for value bets. If Japan could defend they would be a proper outfit.

I'm on the Argies

Il be backing argentina, dont see europeans being a lot of threat in the conditions
Report morpteh mackem October 16, 2013 6:07 PM BST
average brazil side might have enough to win this, poor value though
Report Coachbuster October 16, 2013 6:21 PM BST
Brazil will no doubt have all the stops pulled out to make sure they win it Cry

Argentina 78 springs to mind

Otherwise i'm going for  Germany or Belgium to make the final ,England and Spain i think are good for the Qs ...

Germany.
Report JamDav1982 October 16, 2013 7:31 PM BST
Don't think that Argentina have a good enough defence to win it.

Almost all the WC's for last thirty years have been won by the team with the best defence. Argentina have a poor defence and a poor goalkeeper.

Brazil for me are the clear favourites.
Report morpteh mackem October 16, 2013 7:55 PM BST
if this was in Europe , would sell one of my lungs to be on Germany.

if people are talking about the climate being an issue then Brazil must have one hell of a winter! I would guess that the matches in the latter stages are played in the evenings so surely it won't be that hot? I agree that even though Brazil are no great shakes they will take a lot of beating on home soil
Report liam1982 October 16, 2013 11:22 PM BST
England for me.

I honestly think they will do it.

"if people are talking about the climate being an issue then Brazil must have one hell of a winter! I would guess that the matches in the latter stages are played in the evenings so surely it won't be that hot?"

Dead right.I was in Sao Paulo in July and it was freezing, some homeless people even died from hypothermia.

England are a certainty, improving, more direct and they even beat Scotland, it'll be vindaloo all the way next year. cheers.Excited

argentina v brazil is one of the biggest rivalries in world football...

do many of you lot honestly think the argies would be allowed to win it in brazil...

the draw will be **** to keep them apart until the final, of which by that time, argentina will have been eliminated...by the germans probably
Report Panther65 October 17, 2013 1:21 PM BST
r!gged that should say
Report Biscuit1979 October 17, 2013 1:22 PM BST
The Argies will probably storm through their group scoring loads of goals and everyone will big them up until they come up against a decent attacking side who will expose their pretty weak defence
Report million1 October 17, 2013 1:25 PM BST
I must be one of the only people on here that does not fancy Brazil one bit to win it
Report Panther65 October 17, 2013 1:32 PM BST
million1...

i would think many share your view...

but people take into account, they are the host nation, the draw will favour them, maybe the conditions also...and of course, just the name of BRAZIL, in a world cup finals, is enough to sway many people on its own
Report million1 October 17, 2013 1:34 PM BST
i agree especially being host nation---but i do not think they are a GREAT side
Report Biscuit1979 October 17, 2013 1:40 PM BST
I think Brazil showed in the confederations cup that they'll be very hard to beat. Also they haven't lost at home since 2002.
Report Panther65 October 17, 2013 1:52 PM BST
without being a great side, and who says they wont be come the time of the finals...i think they will certainly be one of the main players at the finals...

i would be surprised if they didnt make at least the semis, 1/4 finals at the absolute worst...

whether they carry my money, well i shall wait and see...
Report million1 October 17, 2013 1:55 PM BST

world cup winners that weren't best team at tournament are numerous- england 66, west Germany  74, argentina 78 , Italy 82 etc
Report Darlo Bantam October 17, 2013 2:37 PM BST
Brazil themselves. 1994.
Report morpteh mackem October 17, 2013 3:31 PM BST
proves me point db, that's why think brazil could win it without being best team.
Report Biscuit1979 October 17, 2013 3:35 PM BST
not sure Italy were the best side in 2006 either (i thought Germany were) and they won
Report morpteh mackem October 17, 2013 3:38 PM BST
and could argue 1990 England were best team and possibly should have won it.
Report Sergei_Rebrofl October 17, 2013 4:29 PM BST
In fairness there probably wasn't that many world cups won by teams who definitely were the best team at the time. West Germanys only claim would be 90, but you could argue England should've had them in the semis. I'd say that there's a fair arguement that England were the best in '66, they lost very few games in the second half of that decade and had some real class.
Report morpteh mackem October 17, 2013 4:58 PM BST
what I would say about England is they had a better team at 1970s wc than did in 1966.
Report Panther65 October 18, 2013 12:25 PM BST
the 1st world cup finals i can remember properly is 1974...

i remember how disappointing the brazilians were...and some bloke from chile having massive hair Laugh
Report morpteh mackem October 18, 2013 2:33 PM BST
Brazilians were really dirty side in 74, amazing how 4 years had changed them, Dutch were class, and travesty didn't win. Poland were  decent and put into perspective England going out to them.
are you sure its not paul brietner , west german left back your not thinking of panther, he scored a belter v chile. he had git massive afro.
Report Panther65 October 18, 2013 6:47 PM BST
no morpeth...if you ever get to see any highlights, or even maybe a pic of the chile squad, there is one of their fellas who has a fl!ppin great mop of hair...

its the game v west germany that i remember it from...

that bloke from zaire at the free kick against brazil is also worth mentioning Laugh
