Get it right, they are 3rd, and they've only played 2 games FFS
Rafa would be getting a lot of stick if he'd have produced Chelsea's results/performances thus far this season. That and the non-starting/subbing of Mata, they'd be going mental. Loaning out Lukaku and keeping Torres too.

did it with robben, hazard was hopeless today but he tracked back, but mata was taken off. Such a robot manager, it may work but it will ruin so many players in the process.

Good point about Robben, when you look at how brilliant he has been for Bayern.

It's actually absolute rubbish about Robben.
Robben was always injured for us. His problem was that he refused to play with the slightest niggle. It was that which led to him leaving.
You also wonder how the likes of Deco, Sneijder, Ronaldo and Ozil ever survived under Jose don't you?

Makes it all the more confusing why they are happy to send Lukaku on loan again. He proved himself last season and he'd be a great option.

I remember a time when the media always used to tell us how knowledgeable Liverpool fans were.

I don't think Mourinho is dated, but I do think the lack of a good striker will cost Chelsea a lot of points this season. I can't fathom this persistence with Torres -- my best guess is that it's an instruction from the owner.
Maybe avoid chelsea and man city after international breaks
It's an area I'm amazed we didn't address just as we didn't last season.
The problem this summer is that the most sought after players have found other destinations opening up for them that weren't there before. It's not just us that seem to have found difficulty because United and Arsenal clearly didn't manage to get the kind of players they would have been planning on when last season ended.
Maybe we concentrated too much on Rooney I don't know. It may also have been United's difficulties bringing in players from their end that was the main reason for the block on that.

The thing is, you already have Lukaku and he banged in 17 (?) goals in the league last year and you've loaned him out. Even if you kept him as a bench player, what a great option to have if you need to start being more direct (assuming that the skilful players haven't been able to work an opening). And he seems such a Mourinho type of forward.
Eto'o to replace Ba in the squad makes some sense. But I don't think it's a good idea to rely on him as the main man. He has been a superb player throughout his career, but he's 32 now, and has spent 2 seasons in Russia where his best league haul was 13 goals. Not bad, but nothing amazing.
IMO, Lukaku as the main man, Eto'o on the bench and Torres sweeping up and making the tea would be a better set-up.

Personally I'd have kept him purely for that option of going direct. The problem being he still has so much to learn that he's just not ready to be the main striker at a club like Chelsea at the moment. It was clear from pre season he still struggles to keep himself onside for example. Keeping him mainly on the bench and using him as an impact player could have led to him making some vital contributions but it wouldn't have helped to continue his development. I think that ended up being the deciding factor.
If Torres and Eto'o can get 15 each then that would be ok. Whether either of them can be relied upon to get goals that get you something out of games like today is the biggest concern though.

Mourinho not only inherited a very talented side in 2004, he was given unlimited funds to strengthen it. Not only that, unlike today where there are now other mega-rich clubs, he had no competition in the transfer market & could sign pretty much who he wanted simply by outbidding everyone else & offering silly wages.
It's only early days yet. But he's got a big job on his hands if he's going to replicate what he achieved before in his first stint as Chelsea manager. The history books show that successful managers (in the English game) generally don't fare too well when they come back again. Chelsea could have done far worse than keeping Rafa on for another couple of seasons.

imo johnson has been poor from the word go.

chelsea problem is up front no top class strikers did he need to buy schurrle think not eto too old torres hopeless lets lukaku go out on loan who looked good last season.
I am beginning to think Jose will be gone by next season.

As was paying 30m+ for another attacking midfielder they don't need whilst still somehow selecting Obi Mikel in the holding role. Useless pile of sh*t.

Didn't Mata admit that he'd been lacking fitness recently, and that was why he wasn't playing?
